Turn 29. May/June 1944. Allied #3.

The Pacific. USN Port Strike. Fukuoka.

The Pacific. USMC Amphibious Forces. With storms in the North Monsoon, which includes Formosa, the US decided to keep their marines on-board and at sea and see what the weather is for the next impulse pair. There just isn't really any invadeable targets from the China Sea and north temperate weather zone that makes sense for the Western Allies right now given the small number of land troops currently available.

Western Allies. Persia. End of Impulse. Game Reload.

So, I'm not sure what's right. When I re-load the game from the save from which the screen cap in the previous post was made, it now shows all non-Persian axis forces in Persia are out of supply. Which is correct?

Turn 29. May/June 1944. Allied #3.

Western Allies. Turkey.

The Western Allies have 3 CW HQ's and 1 US HQ in Turkey alone and 1 CW HQ in Persia! And they have had them there for a while now. This victory by the US and Great Britain greatly reduces the allied "front lines" in Turkey and frees up at least 2 HQ units for redeployment to the Western Front.

Would have to see the full picture, with hex control flags, of eastern Turkey and Georgia and Azerbaijan, etc.

MWIF was probably simulating the complete disbelief of the Japanese AA gunners that Doolittle had finally arrived. The barbarians simply can’t fly an airplane over Nippon! Impossible!

Give the pictures you give, the Germans in Persia should be out of supply.

I've attached the latest of my game. This might be easier to "look at" assuming, of course, one has access to MWiF.

That makes sense! Well, except that those were navy planes and not B-25's launched from the Hornet. But, I still like your explanation.

Did you know that Jimmy Doolittle during the war was offered promotion to General but only if he agreed to stop flying recon missions over enemy territory. Why, one might ask. Because he was briefed to Ultra and the higher ups were afraid what might happen if he was shot down/crashed and captured.

Well, it looks as though they got one last move and attack for free then.

Where did that Russian 6-4 northwest of Manstein come from? It was not in the previous picture of this front, taken last impulse during Axis combat, and if was stacked underneath other Russian units in that picture, it would have had to move through a ZOC to get where it did. Confusedly, yours.

By the way, why is Iraq still neutral? With four corps in Persia, the Germans should have been able to align it. If you weren't given that opportunity there is a bug. (Turkey and Russia don't count, but four German corps in any other adjacent country do.)

I think the German component of the expedition to Persia topped out at 3 corps + 2 divisions. ?

And I think Turkey would count if 4 German corps were in Turkey, but I don’t think that has happened yet, either.

Though there has been 4+ German corps in Turkey and Persia simultaneously, the rule I believe is 4 corps in an adjacent ‘country,’ not ‘countries.’

The corps must all be in one country, and Turkey and Russia do not count.

I wanted to get it all figgered out for future use, so I looked it up, and I had a couple things wrong. They both use the same rule, even though Iraq does not border USSR. The applicable clause is:

there are a total of at least 4 German corps in any adjacent countries (excluding the USSR and Turkey).

So I had the rule wrong too. Reading that, two in Syria and two in Persia should trigger Iraq. I thought all four had to be in the same country.

So Guderian gets revenge on the Yankees by leaning heavily on the Reich’s new go-to helper force: the zombie Italian army, still trying to live Il Duce’s dream all over the continent. But Benito is probably back to happily lapping up milk and eating plain vegetables from the pleasant confines of Rome, so that must inspire some of his paesanos, somehow. Maybe he can put together some nice digs for Petain, who will be needing a nice Autumn vacation it looks like.

Meanwhile, the T-34s may have gone a steppe too far and an epic air battle appears imminent overhead. Will the Luftwaffe agree with der Fuehrer about which hex is crucial to the Reich’s economy and commit their best wunder plane on the map, despite a general lack of secure bases in those ever bigger steppes so sparsely monitored by German nor Axis security troops? Is the glorious RAAF ready for their Finest Hour over Rokossovky’s elite tankers? It appears, Da!

That's an excellent question! I went bask to an autosave pre-move and he started the turn in Stavropol. So how did he wind up where is now? The only thing that I can figure is that during the Soviet movement phase, which I did do an "undo all", that he wasn't moved back to Stavropol.

Thanks for pointing this out. This is so critical that I moved him back to where he could have legally moved. I also reverted controlled of that hex back to Germany.

Also, it looks like Germany missed the bus on aligning Iraq. It just never occurred to them, or to the allies either. :)
