Could you give us more details what you mean by crashes? Also could you post a Dxdiag report here? Here is a post on how to do just that: How to do a Dxdiag report

Thanks for the response Paullus, here are some details:

Game crashes routinely 5-6 turns in on almost every single scenario I've tried, to include Campaigns. All scenarios attempted are the ones that originally came with the game. I have been switching out various mods (ASL and colorful).

I have not been able to determine if it occurs during a specific phase.

What happens is the game closes entirely (crash to desktop). I am able to re-launch the application immediately, but obviously lose any unsaved progress.

It is a new laptop (fairly powerful) so I am thinking the culprit is some kind of setting or compatibility issue.

Beyond that, the game itself does run a bit slower than I expected (again I've got a pretty powerful machine). During AI turns sometimes there are graphic elements that disappear and reappear (for example, the turn indicator on the upper right turns into a white box).

Thanks in advance. Love the game by the way, it's an ASL players dream.

dxdiag attached as requested.

I'm glad you enjoy the Game. I also have a SL/ASL heritage. Started out a long time ago. Great game

You do have a powerful Lap Top that should do just fine . You are experiencing two problems here. The first one is the Crash to Desktop issue. This must be something on your computer. I suggest the follwing for starters:

1. Check that you have windows 10 and other drivers up to date.

2. Zakblood did a Windows 10 guide after some users had problems running the game in Windows 10. Check out this guide and see if there is something you can apply from it.

3. Make sure you have Update 5 of the game installed.

4. Head over to http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=4504508 and download Peters latest Beta build and install manually.

The second issue has actually to do with the game but can me remedied. This is the slow down issue you experience in some scenarios. In Big scenarios the LOS loggic can take really long time if the "Day Visibillty" setting in the scenario is set to Unlimited. This can be altered but you have to open the scenario in the Game Editor and follow these steps:

1. Open the editor

2. Click on file and choose your scenario

3. Click on Settings and then on Scenario Attributes and a SCenario Attributes window will open

4. Change Day Visibillity to a fixed number, 16 hexes is a good start and then click on OK.

5. Click on the Save Icon (the discett icon) or on File and then on save to save the changes to the scenario

now the scenario should work fine.
I'm actually using a free program called Razer Cortex that frees up resources from windows that works great on my own old Laptop. Others has also reported that it helped the speed of the game on their Laptops. It could even work for your Crash to Desktop problem.

Try these options and get back to us.

Cheers

I've got a repeatable bug, which from being in the industry for 6 years I know is gold to coders:) Is there anyone still tinkering with this gem of a game? If so I can zip up the saved game file and post it. It's crashing at the exact same spot. After my 1 self rally attempt top of turn 2, that game crashes and goes to the initial launch screen.

gehrig38 you are using an older version of the game and that could couse the crash. I've tried the scenario using the newest version available and It works fine. Do as follows to get the newest version:

1. Update the game using the function in the Game menu.

2. Apply the Beta-update available here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=4504508

That should do the trick.

Am unable to post any pics for account reasons I guess.
But I found a bug, and it is in the newer version you told me to update to.
Even stranger? It's in the exact place the earlier bug was crashing
Turn 2 RPh and my side was allowed 2 self rallies.....
In the earlier crash I had just one broken squad and maybe the game tried to self rally a second, non-existent squad/crew?
I'll post a pic when able.
UPDATE
Here is the picture
