John update his set of files before sending them to me. That is where the data base message is coming from. The only thing that you may see with this is some corrections to later ship upgrades.

OT - Planning to fly out to Denver in mid-May for first of many meeting between co-designers. We have talked for over 10 years without a face to face. It's about time!!

There are many discussions about what to upgrade or change in the mod. I have done some reading but not encompassing.

If I may ask a question:
For the assigned float plane squadrons for the big CS ships, was it ever considered allowing them to upgrade/convert to float fighters?

as an example looking at Mizuho-2:
only float models, no float fighters.
It would seem a logical change for those groups if they had been retained as CS units instead of being converted to CVLs.

If I am not mistaken, if those units are on the CS at the time of conversion to CVLs, they also convert to FTR and TB squadrons.

So allowing them to become Float Fighters wouldn't seem to me too be far outside the bounds of reason.

thanks

In my game of RA we are now in February 44. The allies have just been dealt a very bloodY nose by a surprise attack/ambush of some of our CV. That in itself is not too much of an issue as that is my fault but I can advise you that the George on the main CV combined with the new Judy D4 carried a 800 kg AP bomb were devastating. The Allied Navy is very outclassed even at this stage . I just think you need to add some better capabilities to the allies as they are outstripping my production as well, My opponent said he is making over 300 George's a month. I dread to think how many of these new D4 Judy he is making. This is keeping him at a CV advantage for the foreseeable future may be until the end of 44... Who knows. The only fighter that I have is any good is the Corsair the hellcat seems woefully inadequate.

Remember also for your upgrade what I said about the CVE not upgrading in Pearl Harbour I have two in Pearl Harbour not upgrading for over a year. Well they start their upgrade but never finish.

Any news when a summary of the mod will be available for consideration as an upgrade

Technically, Judy couldn't drop 800kg from their bomb bay. D4 model was kamikaze only, and shouldn't be able to use that bomb during attack (they were welded). I know, that this is the same as stock, but probably should be HR not to use them as normal planes.
But BETTYs used 800kg bombs. Not the same, as AP dropped at PH, but 800kg nevertheless.

I think the Judy should be FIXED. That 800Kg is crazy. Didn't look at it since the aircraft was stock. Important fix.

We are now in February 44 and the allies are finding it difficult to advance for fear of the Japanese CV menace with hordes of NIk2 George and these kind of bombers with 800 kilo bombs, though we did agree that the George can only go on the main CV.

That said the game is quite interesting but we should have had the no withdrawal option for the allies as I am losing a lot of stuff.

You saw in the post many times ago where my opponent explain to you how he exonerated so many planes. Actually I think that the historical past should always be followed and the jumping planes is not to be allowed.

There is a no withdrawal option in game settings, which an be applied to any scenario. Not sure if it can be changed after a game has started. For our PBEM, John and I have No Withdrawals set to ON, which, since John did it without telling me, must be the intended way the scenario is meant to be played. I certainly like it. I have yet to face the Japanese CVs with upgraded planes.

Okay interesting reply. I put withdrawals as on because that is the normal default setting. I think it's a mistake I agree.

As regards the upgraded CV planes you will have to see if your opponent has managed to accelerate the massively like-mine did .What date are you are now. Japan does not build up its full strength until mid to late 1943.

John, I have to ask again. Do you have an update for the BTS-L scenario in the works? I am going to start a PBEM game as Japan and I would like the latest files if possible.

I know that John has been working on it, Bill, and I get "database updated" message in my game from time to time. I'll shoot him an email for you, as I don't think he checks the forums much.

Sean is right. Haven't been checking in very often. He cued me to check. Thanks Sean!

Progress has been made. Michael and I spent some time talking about some dial backs and I've got them inputted into the Mod. If you PM me your email address, I can send the files. Was hoping to get a redo of China done but don't think it is going to happen anytime soon.

Live my life that way!

OK. I am doing work in BTS-L today and tomorrow. Are there nagging worries/concerns within the BTS Mods I should think about or make sure is good?

Changed/Fixed a bunch of nagging things:

1. Checked to make sure airframe and engine arrivals are matched up better.
2. Fixed Japanese CS to have a unit of 12 Jakes and a unit of 12 Pete. The Float Fighters were seen as useful to Japan so they'll start that way and the player can decide if they work going Pete--Rufe--Rex.
3. Added conversion time to most of the Japanese conversions. Feel that it happens a shade too fast so I added 30--60--90 days pending...
4. FIXED a major issue in conversions where CS Chitose/Chiyoda INSTANTLY converted with no delay. Ooops.
5. The Judy D4 does not get an 800 Kg Bomb. I did move it back to the D5 since that is set for 1945 and will be a suicider.
6. Fixed the Aoba conversion from CL to CLAA.
7. CLAA Tenryu 25MM ammo issue fixed.

Went through the Opening deployments of Japanese and Allies and made several small changes.

There sure are a lot of additional RN ships in these Mods! Think the Royal Navy starts with about 18-24 additional warships on December 7th.

Will look again in the morning. Michael is checking for other issues as well.

OK. Back up and working.

Michael caught a big boo-boo that I just corrected. Somehow CL Pasadena was coming in with THREE air units (Fighters, TB, and its normal FP group). Nope. Fixed.

Had mentioned to Sean a few months ago that I caught some doubled up work on Naval LCUs. AS noted, all Naval Guard units reform into CD units as the Japanese ships are upgraded (mainly gaining the scrapped 5" guns from secondary conversion to 3.9" AA) and I accidentally doubled up ten CD units. Those have been pulled and eliminated. Another oversight corrected.

Will let this sit for a bit and then do a final look through.

NZ bomber - Any reason my Kiwi friends run out of airframes late in the war? The PV-1 Ventura goes from 6/43 to 6/44, but nothing afterwards. Would access to the plentiful American PV-1 & 2s be appropriate?
