Gentlemen

Going to play my official 3rd full GC at a leisurely pace.

Once saw a thread - either in in general - or perhaps Tech - and when I search I cannot find it. Sigh..

In essence the thread said something like this (coming from a techno peasant)

"At the beginning of the game the AI chooses 1 of 13 random scripts that determines aggressiveness / objectives. If as a player you want to play more historically inclined games ... open up some sort of ini file (??) ... and delete numbers 6 - 13 leaving only numbers 1- 5 "

Anyway "something like that"

Having actually played 2.5 GCs (ceasing number 1 when I learned and read how many mistakes I was making) - I think I have seen 2 relative variants. * " a number 1-5 " * " a number 6 - 13 " wherein the AI invaded Australia via Gulf of Carpentaria

--

So I am interested in playing another GC where I "limit" the random AI scripts to choices in the 6-13 range as opposed to the 1-5 range ... sort of the opposite of the advice in the thread... but in essence the same process would apply...

You're looking for post #3 of Kull's AI Thread.

quote:

As reported by Yaab, the variants for Scenario 1 (and by extension, the others which use a large number of variants) can be subdivided into two AI Activity categories: More historical (variants 1-6) and Less historical (variants 7-20). To only play one of the "more historical scenarios, just delete all variants aei007.dat and above.

You can also find the source of this information here ( last paragraph of post 1)

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2260137

18.0 SPECIAL RULES – AI:

The AI ignores HQ restrictions.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2266051

To remove variants that include AI exploitation attacks

delete aei00x-007 to aei00x-12 files from scen sub folder.

That will guarantee a game where the AI sticks to a historical expansion plan (if not in timing)

There are 13 AI files 7 are all variants of a bog standard game 6 have the AI going beyond strategically.
