Hi Ronald,

One thing that seems to have found its way in game is the motorized infantry and towed artillery bug. These units cannot move on turn 1 and only start moving on turn 2.

(To all army groups participating in Operation Barbarossa: the drivers should not receive Schnaps before driving, only in evenings with dinner. June 22 is approaching and we need all mechanized and artillery units fully operational.)

Some small changes:
- 250th ''Blue'' division is now Spanish
- added the crossed swords on ''Art of War'' campaign map

Also, the standalone scenarios ''Road to Demjansk'' and ''Typhoon over Moscow'' somehow only have English names in both English and German versions.

By the way, here is a challenge for those playing the Soviet side: Have a unit with five attachments by May 1945. (see the thread ''How to get five attachments'')

It can be any unit of your choice. I would choose a tank division or a bomber brigade but the choice is up to you.

In order to defeat the fascist invaders you must master the art of war and train your units as well as they train theirs.

The commanders who have these units in their force by May 1945 will receive the Victory Order. This was a very special and very rare order only for most important achievements by top level commanders. Historically only 19 people received this order (the 20th one, given by Leonid Brezhnev to himself in 1978, does not count and has been revoked.)

These maps seem to have old entries that reduce the movement points to a degree where motorized units cannot move and i thought caught them all. Seems i was wrong. Will be fixed.

Is this an addition for the changelog text ?

I will add the German names then. Thanks for your reports!

Hi Ronald,

It says in the changelog for Eastern Front that Blue Division will be Spanish in v.1.09. It was a planned change and now has been made.

If needed, I can make a changelog for Art of War saying ''Locations of battles are shown on the Western European map in v.1.09.''

I have found the "Grossdeutschland" in the first scenario Minsk 1941.
Why it is not an Elite Infantry ?

Ronald, I agree. In Minsk 41,in other news my fighters can't even take on unescorted bombers without a 2 point loss so I wont attack when the 109 isn't around. I must be doing ok because Stalin hasn't sent me on a permanent vacation.

Actually it was terminator who wanted to know. I guessed it was Minsk as it seemed you were then off to work.

The way i handle the changelog is always a reference to a last published version. SO if there is a new scenario in 1.09 like the Rostov 1941, it will not get a change list on its own until it has important changes in 1.10 (e.g. fixes of OoB or balancing).
So as Art of War is new in 1.09 is just listed as new. Some goes for fixes of the Beta, except e.g. they are generally new bugs then its relevant for the list.

Why it is not an Elite Infantry ?

"Elite" is a euphemism for the Waffen-SS as it is unclear if you can get trouble using it. I know for sure that would i use the historical symbols, i could get punishment here in Germany. So using that term is playing it save. I would prefer historical stuff for accuracy's sake, but its not important enough to go to jail :-)

In this sense, the Großdeutschland was not an "Elite" e.g. Waffenn-SS unit like Das Reich oder Wiking. It was elite though - it recruited the best from the regular army and similar to the SS units had a special treatment according to new weapons. It was a prestige unit of the Heer i guess.

Then god speed for the other missions. Stalin is an unforgiving master.

I added a little list of general bugs and their current state, the Soviet Dawn ones will be handled in the other thread.

As we are talking about the Großdeutschland unit, here is a little fun fact: the unit was made up of men from all over the Reich including Austria thus its name. Großdeutschland refers to a solution that was on the table during the 19th century which meant a "big Germany" that would involve Prussia and Austria (then the Habsburg Empire) as well as all the smaller German states.
The founding of the second Reich in 1871 was the small German solution excluding Austria.
Men of this unit are depicted on the box of Germany at War as a reference the title showing "all" German states at war as Austria was annexed in 1938.

Hi terminator,

yes, that's what AngrySwan had reported and which is fixed by now. The editor saved a tag with motorized units "range" and a value which was fine until the internal calculation was changed to work with x10. Then it suddenly was 0 or 1 movement point until that was refreshed in the next turn.

Next Beta version will have the fix.

Hi terminator,

the range problem was solved by removing the text elements in the xml files, so it should work for all types in the ext version.

The water bug - what do you mean by that ? Is it the optics in the screenshot (brighter in the center hexes) ?

Yes the water is clearer than on the edges.

This is not the case with version 1.08 where the color of the water is uniform :

Hi Ronald,

Still no luck with towed artillery and mechanized units on campaign maps. A unit can move if deployed on turn 1 but the units on maps still cannot move.

The standalone scenarios work, however.

Hi terminator,

the Bunker counters have a unified designation and the right colours within each block. Also the Polish Schneider has a line break on the counter.
In the image there is also an area with sea hexes. But there is no difference in the colours of the sea ground on the beach and the ones with water only.

...and here is a screenshot from Kalinin which also lacks the colour difference you see on your machine.

The problem is, that i can only fix it, if it occurs on my machine. I don't know if a hardware difference could cause this.

having the '41 available all time is normal.

The missing rifle companies as support units for tank corps is a bug. Thanks for reporting.

Hi folks,

there now is a new Beta version on our server "GaW 1.09 Beta Ausf.A" which contains all fixes mentioned above and discussed here Soviet Dawn Beta Test.

The link is in the first post of this thread.

Please make sure to use the latest version and new savegames if you report errors to avoid confusion.

Known issues:

- The rifle companies are on our list but not fixed yet

- The sea coloring is not occurring here, so we need more data to address it . If it happens on your system, please let us know.

Thanks to all who helped to improve this version so far !
