I am still having trouble with images. I have downloaded the April 19 CWDB file into the DB/Images file multiple times. The images appear only sporadically (in some Northern scenarios) and when I view Utube replays I note that the player is getting way more images than I am. Example - Canary's Cage - I get no images at all but the Utube video has an image for each unit. What am I missing here?

Not every unit has images (many don't), but you can add your own images to the folder by just naming them "aircraft_####" as appropriate. That's probably what that player did. It's what I've done.

Thanks for the info, I had not thought of this. I think you may be largely correct but I also think there may be a nuance here.

I have returned to playing this game only recently and I have focused primarily on playing the tutorials and the earliest of the standalone scenarios. I was worried because images were present in virtually none of the scenarios/tutorials that I encountered and, obviously, I wondered whether my settings were somehow screwed up or whether I needed to activate something in order to get the images on a constant basis.

Today I experimented by simply opening a number of Scenarios in Northern Inferno. There I found the images to be present on a regular (constant!?) basis and I took some time to review which images were available in the scenarios for that Gameset. Clearly a number of units (example Sea King) had images in the Northern Inferno scenarios but what I am pretty sure was the same unit showed no image whatsoever in the tutorials and early scenarios that I had been playing. First, I think I can fairly conclude from this that there is nothing basically wrong with my settings and there was nothing I needed to "activate" in order to get images.

Second, from this I would speculate that some of the tutorials and scenarios may have been created before images were introduced as a feature in the game (my sense from the Manual Addendum is that the images option was introduced later in development) and thus these early scenarios never made any effort to incorporate images and likely cannot incorporate images unless someone goes in and actively adds them. Does that make sense???

Images are tied to the database, not scenario (unless it’s embedded in a briefing). Quite simply it could be that the tutorial scenarios are made with units that don’t have images in the pack. Also, just because two things are called a Sea King doesn’t mean they’re the same aircraft in the database. They can be separated by year or country (which will lead to differences, be they in payload, sensor, engine, etc). At a top level though both will be called “Sea King”, you need to click on the database to see what actual aircraft #### they are.
