Got an ops message "Wirraway upgrading to Boomerang C-12 at Melbourne" However there is no Boomerang on the map, and only 1 in the pool, it just became available on Feb 1 43 and the game is on Feb 3 43 vs the AI.

Below, are relevant images showing no unit at Melbourne, no Boomerang on the map at all, and the pool. Just curious if I am missing anything, or if it's safely ignored.

Is there an aircraft factory there? If so, it might mean that the factory switched over from producing Wirraways to Boomerangs.

Edit: Bill Brown beat me to it

You might want to review your factories to make sure you want them to upgrade. Also IMO the default settings for your squadrons should be no to upgrade.

Challenge for all allied players, see if you can get a Boomerang to shoot something down.
Historically used by 83/84/85 Sqns as a stop gap fighter deigned to use available bits and pieces from other aircraft and the best engine being produced in Aus at the time.

If anyone is interested in why it was needed this book would be worth looking for:

Yeah, the main issue for me would be the path after the Boomerang. You have lots of semi-obsolete US fighters to put in Australia, what you need are bombers with some range and punch. I look to get my Wirraway squadrons to upgrade to Vengeance dive bombers or Beaufighters/Beauforts.

Remember that both Wirraway and Boomerang are bugged in the stock scenarios.

I just use them in a few RAAF squadrons for ground attack/strafe at 100 ft. With a high inspiration leader to get them drunk in the mess every night, as it were.

They do tend to eviscerate any IJ ground formations caught outside a base in anything approximating clear terrain.

Think of them as long range Hurricanes.

Before you blithely assume there is an error in the data, you might want to read this thread. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2995483&mpage=1&key=load
