Chickenboy, I am so, so very sorry. What happened? Is there anything we can do? Can it be recovered?

Should we not have some candidate debates before the vote?

That sounds like a splendid idea.

However, I will not participate. Nor will I listen to one.

Are you sure that is a good idea? Last time a candidate did not turn up for the debate was in May this year - and for his crime he was punished by becoming Prime Minister!

How can such a sacrilege be allowed to happen? An attack on Chickenboy is an attack on us all.

Time to get even!

Or, perhaps, it is just a computer that needs fixing?

No, I am not sure that it is a good idea. However, if I am elected, then I am going to need all my energy to focus on the task. And if I am not, then that time could have been better used playing computer games.

OK. I'll buy your vote. Will this suffice? I'll even make it of the Swedish Bikini Team of yore.

Never seen that one ...

... but I agree with Orm in this case. I seriously doubt that any of these beauties even know where Sweden is.

If they came to visit you, would you care if the did not know where Sweden is? Or would you tell them to leave and never come back?

If they came visiting me, I would wonder what is wrong with them. Or why someone would pay them to do so. Or what mischief they are up to. I would probably ask them to leave at once.

All of the above, except I would NOT ask them to leave.

Ah. But you do not live in Sweden.

And you are a brave, experienced, man, who had seen the world.

And as a side-note to Chickenboy; I wouldn't dream of voting when I am nominated. I wouldn't dream of voting against myself. And I am surely sane enough to not vote on myself.

We should not. There is only one candidate at this point. Only one seconded nomination has gone through and is in the process of voting.

Now, Telemecus, if you are proposing that you would prefer to re-open the process to consider additional candidates (yourself being the obvious choice to run against Orm), please follow Robert's Rules of Order to state your case in a motion properly. Your motion (if seconded, of course) would then follow in accord with the rules.

We are having nice Autumn weather here. It is around 20.6 C and it should get up to 22 C. Tomorrow should be even better, it should get up to 18 C. But I was like to check the weather where I am at to this place:

One of my favorite quotes from a really interesting man. Regarding consideration of politics after the American Civil War, General W.T. Sherman was asked his thoughts:

"If drafted, I will not run; if nominated, I will not accept; if elected, I will not serve."

I've had cause to use this quote to deflect nomination to meaningless academic boards and councils in the past. But that won't work for you, Orm-we're on to your tricks.

You are in Texas now, you should know that it gets pretty hot and humid there. If I remember correctly, you were in Minnesota before and it gets colder than that place during the winter. And that place does freeze over.

Maybe someone could go there for the blues fest next month and take pictures. It is a scenic area:

You should know that I have no desire for this high office - I accept your nomination only for the fame and power. I shall consider myself only to be the stalking horse candidate. I do this in truth only to help Orm, as to be elected without having produced a manifesto and spent millions in political TV advertising first he will be a poorer Governor without it. I choose however to move myself forward not on the Robert's Rules of Order but on the T34 positive motion basis.

Agreed. Let's do this democratically. I nominate Ormster. Is my nomination seconded?

Seconded!

Who is this Ormster guy? I do not recall seeing him here.

Ormster! Bro! (That's you by the way) We need you to go back through this THE THREAD!!! and catalog every new page 'owner'. There's only 391 of them in this iteration of THE THREAD!!! I'll help you out: I got this one. But you'll have to figure out the other 390, I can't do all your work for you. When you're done with this current iteration, get ahold of the forum admin and they'll let you access the previous two iterations. You can figure those out too. Please report your findings to this august group as soon as you're done.

We needed someone that's from a 'neutral' non-aligned country to do the tabulations. As I'm not aware of any Swiss members of THE THREAD!!!, that means you. And Viking Dude.

But the democratic process has spoken and you are nominated! And seconded. We should now vote.

All in favor?

[Chickenboy]: "Aye".

"Aye".
No one doubts the honesty of the great and mighty Orm.

"Aye"

No idea what I am voting for but I am just following the crowd.

And look where that sentiment has got us lately.

But I didn't nominate you Telemecus. You can't accept a nomination as a stalking horse / dark horse candidate if no such nomination is produced. Also, before you self-nominate please know that such an action is generally not accepted unless self-nomination is apriori accepted for these high offices.

Now, of course Orm, or anyone else that hasn't provided a nomination (or seconded one) can nominate you for office. He has not yet nominated anyone else, nor has he voted. As a valued member of THE THREAD!!!, his opinion is meritorious too.
Although your concept of co-Governorship is irregular, how you would choose to divide the duties of office with Orm could be left to the two of you. After you get voted in of course. Which can only take place after nomination. And the vote.

Order man. Order. Would you see THE THREAD!!! descend into wanton chaos and dysfunction? Therein lies the abyss.

ETA: Point of order. The armored vehicle shown is not a T-34, but an M1A1 Abrams MBT. How can you apply some Pinko tank principle to 'Murican hardware?
