Hello all.

Loving the game except for the fact that I as the USA can launch naval invasions from the USA with little or no consequences.
In my current MP game i have done naval invasions from San Diego to Japan, another one from San Fran to Japan and even worst one from LA to China!

Why is this allowed in a strategy game like this....its game breaking in my opinion!

My friend took Hawaii, Midway and most of the islands.....i simply sailed around his navy and sucker punched him...seems very unrealistic to me.

I feel that invasion vessels should not be able to end their turn in the ocean....this would require you to island hop, the way it should be.

Is there any fix for this?

thanks

I concur with this need for the island hopping. But if so, that operation torch in French North Africa would be difficult to replicate as well. Operation Torch came very US as well as UK if i am right.

But in the pacific, the distances are farther. So maybe something should be done to arrest this. In a game I played, US landed in northern Japan in 1942 without taking other island groups. It distracts the japanese immensely.

Both sides had long distance planes on the islands of the pacific. While not impossible (Dolittle Raid and Pearl Harbor) it was not easy to do without detection. Perhaps a home guard trigger? The thing about games is you can send troops to do things like this and get them slaughtered. IRL people would be mad if you threw away lives like that. Perhaps a huge morale hit for losing troops that did amphibious invasions?

Units killed on Islands should be considered as Out of Supply loss even if they have more than 5 supply. Both the morale loss from the wipe and the rebuild cost would be there and suddenly such actions are not a good idea. Maybe even some limits on the UK landing in Europe with suicide units to cause massive more loss for the Germans. It is always bad, when a single unit entering German territory triggers the allies closing on Berlin boost for SU during '41, and no return to normal state after the inevitable wipe.

Not that I have any idea for a solution, but I agree that the game should provide more of an incentive for "island hopping" in the Pacific instead of just straight invasion of the Japanese homeland. The solution should probably be supply-related somehow, but without making Torch impossible.
