Info I saw on this was that it was never, even for a second, available for purchase in the US. The author was not stupid enough since it would be classified as fraudulant under US Law.

Additionally, from a worldwide perspective, it was available for purchase for less than a day before Apple themselves pulled it from their store.

It's likely no one even purchased it at all, and if so probably only news media... in which case they each deserve one another for even running a worthless story like this in the first place...
