Playing a multiplayer server game. As sovjet I encircled a German Division. At the next turn the pocket was empty although no of the sovjet units encircled the german unit has been attacked. How is this possible? Bug, cheat?

It could have auto-surrendered - did you see a battle report in that hex?

And there were soviet units everywhere around the unit with no gaps it could have walked out of?

Do you have screenshots or a save you could share?

Maybe it was a German unit marked for withdrawal that turn? I'm not sure if isolated units withdraw or not.

Yes, it was only one Division (1.SS "LAH", turn 56)which was fully surrounded. I waited one turn to finished them of but as I recieved the next turn the unit was not in the pocket anymore . No battle report around the spot...very strange. I also checked the summery of ground units lost, but at this stage a did not managed to kill one german division. Unfortunatly I have no screen shot of the scene

Ah that does explain a lot - see Axis withdrawals on turn 57 (displayed in attached picture of this post)

Ahh...Ok.

I consider this as a bug. A unit which is encircled should not be able to withdraw until it can move freely

Is there any chance it tried to withdraw, couldn't, surrendered, and is now reconstituting itself on the baseline back up to 75% before it can withdraw?
