Was wondering what everyone's preferred unit specialties are, I usually select Elite or Engineer but wondering if anyone has any input on these upgrades.

Elite and engineer are my favorite as well in that order.

I want to like infiltration, I really do. But I have no clear sense of just how big of a difference +5% to retreat is. What are the odds of retreat in general? Nobody knows. This is all under the hood.

So infiltration may or may not be a good one to take but there is simply no way to tell on basis of the information given.

Winterization. I dunno. On paper, sounds great, and then you realize that the vast majority of turns are not snow turns. I'd rather have something good year round.

What Flaviusx said. Plus I have also been using Heavy Artillery since it is suppose to remove one level of enemy entrenchments which would be useful for the initial breakthrough. However I have not been impressed with it so far. I will eventually get around to loading up a test game in hot seat and try to get more details on some of the game mechanics.

Pick the one for the unit and the situation.

So if you are in Russia engineers and heavy artillery

If you are in the desert probably infiltrator or elite.

If you are secretly planning a winter offensive take your best take and giver it winter specialization and watch it kick ass.
