So, I've decided to un-bury this mod from an old discussion here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4568086 This mod adds a bit more detail to ammo names, as used in the various game readouts and message log. The point is to make it a bit clearer which weapons are being used. It otherwise changes nothing from the default game, and all weapons work exactly the same. To coincide with the Steam release, I've re-done it from scratch. DLC weapons have also been renamed now, and it's fully compatible with the Steam and non-Steam releases. No changes are made besides the names. Personally, I definitely prefer it that way - the main difference for me here is that it shows up in the event log when a friendly unit destroys something, and that makes for useful info. For comparison, here is the "before", with the game's default ammo names... ...and here is "after", with the added munition info: I've tried to keep it as minimal as possible, so for the bulk of things I've simply added caliber (which already gives you enough feedback on what the weapon was in most cases). In others, I've added identifying information such as the weapon type, or a note in brackets in the end for special cases. 1) For specific weapon types: (m) - mortar (g) - grenade (r) - recoilless rifle 2) For SAMs - guidance method: (O) - optical (IR) - infra-red (R) - radar more than one for some systems, such as (O/IR) 3) For ATGMs - missile command link: (W) - wire (C) - radio command (I) - infra-red (L) - laser --- NOTE: this mod takes the form of a standalone database, however only two files actually differ from the default (eras.xml and ammunition.xml). To use this mod, the custom database must be activated via the launch menu. Alternatively, you can simply replace your default database's eras.xml and ammunition.xml with the ones included here. It is also available on the Steam Workshop. (download from attachment, below)
