I get that bug squashing can be a giant, grueling, and lengthy process, but WOW, did this game come out WAY too early. I'm so glad I didn't plunk my money down for this game. I'll buy it next year on sale when they've gotten most of the issues resolved.

Why are so many game released way too early? I get the all mighty dollar, but damn. Shame on you game developers

However, I guess no one is pointing a gun to our heads to make us purchase these games.

Was this from a savegame? It looks like there is an infantry icon over one of the tanks.

Cheers

I consider Matrix a step above the rest in terms of quality control. But this was one game where they took the low road, and they will pay the price in terms of sales. We really should get a coupon or something for beta testing it.

And don't forget for the Christmas sale. IMHO, Battle Academy 2 (Kursk) is light years ahead of this game in every respect. A great buy probably 50% off come the holiday.

This was from a saved game between battles. The first tank was killed, the 'troops' must be the survivor in the tank, but the second tank came up in same battle and occupied the same space. It did not affect private Byrd from getting his bronze star and promotion to Corporal though...

Id cut some slack on this...these guys tore up the original because the orignal canned engine they tried to use didn't cut it, so they dumped the original and went out and wrote a whole new engine just for this game delaying it for several years. A bold move that doesn't strike me as one that makes them just looking for a payout, sounds more like they wanted this first time 3d version to have a solid foundation to build on. There was crashing in 1.0.0 but by patch 2 less than 2 weeks later im crash free and can use max graphics. They have been pumping out fixes, sure...but I wouldnt wait because some glitch like graphics overlapping. I have seen that in many many games that had far more developers. Go and buy it if you havent. If you're a CC fan, then dive in and enjoy. The signs are there for future growth and I want more!

They didn't dump the original engine - they milked it for everything it was worth, and then some. I bought them all, too.

The "max graphics" make 15-year-old games look good. These guys are veteran wargamers, and I honestly wonder what they really think of their own release.

It's $40 and out there for all to see. I just can't see anyone with a solid collection of games being happy with this one. Unless you're a relative.

Im talking the 3d engine..not the 2d. They wrote for 3d on one platform, scrapped it then wrote another in house just for 3d. This has been in development for a very long time. Im happy its stable and playable and for the most part carries the same gameplay feel the 2d versions had. Im not a relative or connected in any way, just a long time fan who is happy to see the series take an exciting turn toward the future. There are a 100 First person shooters, a 1000 polygon mapped turned based games, but there is only one Close Combat. Closest thing I have found is Company of Heroes, but it not quite the same. Viva la Close Combat!

I am not going to rag on them for graphics. Close Combat was never about graphics. And even 3d issues like this don't bug me.

What I don't like is that I just lost two Shermans to a Marder because both were sitting there with "Wrong Facing" on their status and "Bad Shot"

WTH does that even mean? You're facing a turretless anti-tank gun in a sherman on level ground. WTF IS THIS!?!?!

Overlap issues with 3d engines go with the territory. Every single 3d game ever released has these issues.

What amazes me most here is that someone got more than a Combat Infantry badge.

They simply released a buggy game that wasn't fully tested. Period.

Tell me one company that doesn’t release a game that’s not needed patching or bugs fixing? You forget these are humans and gamers just like us.
I’m old school I prefer gameplay over graphics and I hate bugs that mess up a battle but guess what? I report it they patch it

I am easy-peasy to please. Always looking for the positive, and it usually comes down to modding. And forget the graphics. I enjoyed Combat Leader's "ants" back in the day.

There appears to be some issues with the engine, LOS, LOF, unit behaviors, stats, etc. What I really like is the easy-to-use editor and larger number of units. I would also love to get the spreadsheets the devs typically release to help my pathetic modding.

The smart money waits a year and gets it half-off. But we buy on release and gripe and complain. With good reason, in this case.

@justflank....nothing wrong with spending your money on what you want. I just prefer to spend my money on things that work.

I agree with WillKnott's sentiment.

I see the bugs, and they are frustrating, but I also see a steady stream of patches, and a lot of close attention to the bug reports on this forum. That's impressive. The game is well playable now, and will only get better and better. I like and respect the CC franchise so much that I was actually happy to pay full price -- and I rarely do that with any game. Keep working Matrix!!

I can tell you how the game was fully tested. The unique bad thing could be many people joining the test only for to take a look and say goodbye. Just it. But it happens in all games, just I would recomend to Slitherine do not accept any more to people which they did not add a good number of reports in a beta.

Anyway, there is not a single game in the world released without any bug and most of them are forgotten after the release. But I suppose how it was forgotten by zasgard.....
