Greetings,

When will the download for the DLC's on the Matrix site have the CMO versions? I see that all the DLC's on my page say for CMANO only.

Or am I totally wrong on how this works?

Thank you.

You should not need them but they are in the members area if you do.

We have set it up so all you need to do is install CMO before uninstalling CMANO. CMO will pull all the DLC you have setup from the original as long as you dont uninstall it first. If you have uninstalled then you'll need to set them up individually with the serials again. Just grab the DLC installer from the members area.

Well, drat. I uninstalled everything last night to make room.

I will switch to using Steam for now.

Thank you!

Hi,

I did the same thing; i uninstalled all the CMANO installs first. I have now downloaded the DLCs for CMO. The one for "Don of a New Era" errors out with this error message.

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
<response>
<Result>false</Result>
<ErrorCode>404</ErrorCode>
<ErrorComment>Not Found: Download not available</ErrorComment>
</response>

Next question: How do I reinstall the standalones on CMO, as these do not seem to have CMO DLC downloads?

Thanks

I myself switched to Steam, but I did find a file called CMO Multi DLC Setup on your My Page. I think it was under the main CMO entry. That might do it.

I started the fresh install of CMO and noted that it allows you to put in all the keys for all your DLCs before it starts installing. Its installing now, and i am hoping that it installs all the DLCs while its installing the main game.

Even better!

Well, that's good to know. I really don't like using Steam, but didn't want to individually have to find all my installers for all that DLC. Now I can switch back when I get tired of Steam.

Educate me. What is Steam and how is it different?

Steam is the name of digital distribution service run by Valve Software.

You can buy games from them which are then run via the Steam launcher. When you buy software from Matrix they provide a Steam software key so you can register your purchase with Steam and run it from that platform if you wish.

It is a bit "easier" to use but it does inject some DRM into the mix which might complicate things if you want to play your game off the internet. You must run the Steam client to run most of the games you buy from Steam.

So, its kind of like having your Matrix games hosted in the cloud? And you run them remotely off Steam, as opposed to executing them off your PC's hard drive?

No, they actually install and execute them on your machine. Steam just handles the work. You just register the game with the key(s) and then tell it to install. It does all the install work and you just double click the icon as usual.

Ah, no - installing a game via Steam puts it on your drive. You can select where it installs, though most people have one directory where all Steam games go, each automatically placed in its own subdir.

You need to run the Steam client app in order to play any Steam games. The advantage is that Steam is very convenient; the app shows you a list of the games you own and which are currently installed. Another advantage is that you can install the same game on multiple machines, so you can play on your laptop when travelling and your monster games machine when at home. And on the PC in your luxury yacht, etc...

The disadvantage is more potential - what if Steam disappears or goes wrong? Because of dependency on the client app, a problem might leave games unplayable. So it's peace of mind to know I own it at Matrix/Slitherine even if I play it via Steam.
