CMO is awesome so far. But is there any idea on when we can expect an updated CSP?

I've uploaded the community scenario pack to steam workshop, and also the latest version of the CSP is available here: http://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876

All the scenarios will work in CMO.

Rory, could please give a hint about how to find it in the steam workshop (a direct link would be ideal)? On the "Command: Modern Operations" workshop page I can see over 450+ individual scenarios... I assume there is a single pack somewhere that I can subscribe to in workshop - I did this with long time ago with the old CMANO. I've no luck trying to find the new pack for CMO..

Those 450 scenarios are the community scenario pack, a zip with all the scenarios is available here: http://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876

Ah, I see, so it's different than it was with old CMANO where a single "Community Pack 40" was listed and could be subscribed to with one click. Fair enough, I'll go with the zip then. Thanks for quick reply!

I have the reverse question. I rarely go onto Steam and wouldn't know what the Workshop is if I tripped over it. Do all the scenarios that reside there end up in the CSP? Are there many that are built in Steam only vice being put in the Forums here for testing?

Thanks

B

The steam workshop acts as a place for users to upload and share scenarios, if a player makes a scenario and only makes it available on the steam workshop then that would be the only place where it would be. Often players will upload to both the matrix forum here as well as the steam workshop but there is no mechanism to take scenarios that are only on the steam workshop and bring them here (unless the scenario author does that himself)

In short, yes the are scenarios that are only uploaded to the steam workshop (as well as there are scenarios that are only uploaded to the matrix forum, and never get on the steam workshop)

At last account there are 296 of those (I have them in a separate folder to avoid duplicates) albeit there could be that I've missed someone, or that a CP duplicate has slipped in. So let's say there are roughly 300 of them.

OK, that's a number worth digging into. Thanks

Be warned that, while there are real gems out there, a LOT of them are very rough and unpolished and some are just plain unfinished.

I fact, after a few annoying experiences, I've take the habit of first check in editor mode all but the most promising looking of them. Just to check that there are somewhat full sets of missions, no obvious events without valid triggers and, due to one particularly infuriating case, that the uploaded scenario it's in the starting poing state and not already played up to the end (that one was a real WTF moment).

So very much a "buyer beware" here.

That said, there are real good ones there (the "Climb Mount Narodnaia" campaign is a masterpiece) so it's very much worth it.

Hot take here, but since there is no way to mass subscribe to all items on the workshop at once, shouldn't it be better to have all the community scenarios in a single pack as it was on old CMANO? Yes I know I can download the pack from the link above, the workshop is more convenient since it auto-updates...

Thanks. Apart from “climb mount narodnaia” what others do you recommend? I tend to trust the community pack but I have very little experience with the general workshop material.

Is it possible to 'tag' the Workshop items that belong to the Community Pack with a 'Community' or something to make it easier to filter in/out these scenarios?

Taiwan Campaign 2019 (single scenario despite the name) is a very good one , not as hard as the difficulty bar says (you should'n really use the special actions, some of them are OP) but full of challenges and very enjoyable. Look for the translated version, if you aren't chinese it's much more accesible.

Far Easter Inferno 1979 it's less polished but also good. You need to use the editor at the start to give both yourself and the enemy side permision to release nukes, since the designer forgot to do so. Also you must abstain to use strategic nukes (tacticals are kosher) until you are said to do so, since it also lacks a mechanism of enforcement.

Korean Massive punishment and retaliation 2018 has a very misleading name since its a very short and modest sized scenario, but I liked it because it highlights the differences between cruise and ballistic missiles and how they are contfronted by different defences, and it also showcases the seldom seen strategic (conventional) systems that the South could bring to bear as a response to the North ballistic missiles.

WW3 D-Day 1985 it's another very good one (albeit I enjoy it more switching to Maintenance the F-19s and A-12s and not using them). The author recently ported it to the forum and has published an updated version. If you haven't played it you can grab it here (scroll down a little) and I very much reccomend you to do so.

There are other good ones out there, but those are the main that come to mind, hope you enjoy them.

I grabbed the 'Northern Fury' and the other 'x Fury' scenarios, along with some other really good stuff. Other stuff will be there when I want it.
