I have read Berlin 1945 by A. Beevor and I was impressed by the descriptions of the fighting in Seelow Heights and around Spreewald (with the Halbe Kassel) batween the Red Army and the last German soldiers (miscellaneus of SS, Wehrmacht and Volkssturm).
My question is if there are some scenarios about these cruels fights?

Regards.

AFAIK Brent Grenadier Richards made some excellent scenarios covering the Kuestrin bridghead battles. Don´t know where to find these scenarios at the moment though. Aren´t these included in the standard 7.1 install of SPWAW??

I think there were 5 of them,Thunder on the Vistula, Luck and the Last Teutonic Knight, ustrin Corridor, Objective Berlin and Last Stand at Seelowe, all on the 7.0 version and updated for 7.1. All up to Brent's usual high standards. Brent seems to model the Russo-German conflict very well, see Mega Campaign Lost Victories 1941 , for further proof if you can find it.
Thanks Brent for all you've done for us.

I believe the scenarios form the Road to berlin series are in the standard game install. They are meant to be played from the Russian side but for a real challege play the German side. As soon as Orzel finishes my berlinn map I will do the fianl battles in the series.

I am glad to be presenting these lesser known battles of the Eastern Front. It has been an interest of miner for a long time. BTW, for a real detailed look at the Seelowe battles in Feb-march, Find Gotterdamerung 1945 and the 3rd volume of the History of the Grossdeutschland

While I have a scenario designer on line, here, I will offer some assistance.

I have two great books on this time of the war:
"With Our Backs to Berlin" and "Zhukov at the Oder." Both are by Tony Le Tissier. I did some preliminary work on the battles of March 22, 1945 around Golzow, Gorgast and Tucheband. Since I live only about 50 miles from Garden Grove, maybe we could meet and put something together.

BTW, the scenario "the Kustrin (sic) Coridoe (sic)" really did a great job in recreating the frustration of the German side trying to attack in the dark, in the mud, but the history and geography had some inaccuracies.

The Germans also ran into tons of mines, though, which weren't present in the scenario. Good thing for them!

My sources on the scenario was Gotterdamerung 1945 and Army Group Center. Neither of the Le Tissier books were available back in 1999. The battle is very obscure with most of the focus by writers is the March 27 attack from Frankfurt which resulted in Guderian's dismissal.

I have no plans at this time to redo the scenarios as all my time is devoted to Combat Leader, the Cross of Iron series and updating Lost Victories. If you wan to update it, contact me.

Hi Grenadier!

Thanks for responding so fast! Too bad you aren’t interested in doing these any more. It really wouldn't be a redo...your scenario covered counterattack of the night of 3/22-23/45, but at 4:30 AM on the morning of the 22nd the Soviets started an artillery barrage which was the start of an attack that the Soviets were hoping would get them to Seelowe. While it didn't get tehm to Seelowe, it DID get them the isolation of "Fortress Kürstrin", that is, the cutting of the "Kürstrin Corridor”. Gorgast, Golzow and Tucheband remained in German hands, although Gorgast was cut off and the Soviets lost 59 tanks destroyed and a number of others disabled. German tank losses were no tanks lost, and one or two disabled and repaired. The German infantry, though, was wiped out.

Golzow and Tucheband remained in German hands for the next three weeks, with each side attacking and counterattacking of the same ground numerous times. BTW, a map of that area could be used for a whole bunch of scenarios. :D
