I'm encountering resources shortages in my current game. I don't know if this is an artifact of the most recent patch. Some circumstances - Soviets are not doing well in this game, they have been pushed back past Moscow, but still hold the line of the Don to the south. So we have the Caucasus and the Volga basin. There are also only 236 Armaments factories that survived 1941.

Nobody's isolated. Looking at my summary, I've got 3.1 million units of resources in the stores. I've only got 178 HI, but I thought the idea was that HI turned resources into supplies. I figured I'd have a shortage of supplies because not enough HI, but this looks like the opposite problem. Maybe I'm just not understanding enough.

It looks like I produced 141K resources but only 79K were consumed in supply production, while 16.5K supplies were not produced because of resources shortages. I'm wondering if this has something to do with rail capacity shortages?

Here's a save game link.

Is rail capacity for shipping supplies involved in getting resources to heavy industry? As Axis in a v 12.02 game I'm currently playing, I had a similar Resource shortage on about turn 3. It was small, like 5000 not produced. The reason I mention this is I think that was the same turn I had a slight shortage in rail capacity for shipping supplies, I think it was 94% that turn. I could load a save and double-check if there is some link between rail capacity and supply/armament factory production.

Rail capacity is 14332/85801. That first number has to do with the number of troops I can move, but maybe it has an effect on resource/supply transport? Should I be leaving some of that available at the end of the turn so that my economy can function?

I was assuming that all that economic stuff took capacity off the front in the logistics phase, leaving a little bit to move troops around.

Yes, it's definitely supply movement. In another game, turn 11, still in control of the Donbass and all, I've still got the same issue. And my air bases have like half the ammo they normally get. So much for the "mad bomber" tactic...

Just looking at a 1.11.03 game and empty Soviet air bases have like 130 ammo at the beginning of the turn. In this one, more like 13. Serious supply shortages even though the bases are on rail lines adjacent to our HQ. Don't know if this is WAD but it is a dramatic change from the earlier version.

Yes. In my second run through I noticed HQ's have lots of supply but units do not seem to get much even when they are less than 10 hexes away! I have had to shorten the distance I advance my Panzers per turn by 50% I have also noticed that in 1.11.03 minor cities and towns had supply and fuel, now they usually only have supply. Rail conversion can be done to Riga with advance units half way to Pskov but still poor fuel passing through to the front. This is a major bug which needs to be fixed.

Other things that have changed are: In turn 1 I could capture Minsk but not Riga. In 1.12.02 it's the other way around. One thing that didn't change is I can still do the Lvov pocket in turn 1!!

Soviet aircraft are only getting to use about 15-25% of their allowed miles in the Soviet turn due to lack of fuel/ammo. This on turn 11 of a 41GC where most resource and fuel factories are still Soviet controlled. I think there's got to be something done about this.

I agree. I am currently in Turn 4 of 41-45 GC and things are hopelessly broken. There is hardly any sign of the Red Army but I can't break through their lines where I can find it due to severe lack of fuel. Hope all these issues are resolved in the next patch. Real game breaker.

The Axis supply issues in the 41GC will clear up a bit as your rail repair advances. My opponent in the game we are playing now, Elloboloco, has managed to push forward on a pretty much historical schedule. I've avoided huge pocketing maneuvers so far by staged withdrawals.

Here's the front line at the end of soviet turn 11:

You need to look at how many Axis units are isolated each turn -- the isolation rules have changed (perhaps unintentionally). The big new change is anyone more than 25 hexes from the RH (at the beginning of the turn, before conversion) is isolated. Units lose morale every turn when isolated, so there is a double whammy: The units are getting no fuel, so they cannot move back to their supply source, and each turn kills their morale.

In the older version, it was just the 100 MP rule that caused "isolation"

In both cases, no ammo. This might be a previously unrecognized problem with the patch.

At the beginning of Turn 5 nothing changed! Units attached to XXXXVI got very little fuel and fuel in the HQ's were identical to above.
I will take a break from this until after the next patch. Hoprfully it will fix things.

I'd say go back to 1.11.03 for a fully functional version. 1.12 is beta for a reason.,

Btw 1.12.03 can shatter and make surrender unit without pocketing and that's very real & refreshing indeed.

For moreover, to advance Germans in the first turn was realistic, need to reduce MP on the first turn respectively shortened week! We have a week of only 5 days, and the time is the same as in the usual! I tried in his scenario reduce MP on 20% and in a result and Riga impossible to seize on first turn, nor Lvov pocket! And with the second turn, they are restored and the game goes as usual!

And what does the logistics report say? You should see there if there's a shortage of rail capacity, vehicles or both. These will reduce deliveries to units.

I wonder why the Germans do not get supplies from the cities nearby? They promised that it would work? In fact, the German headquarters ceases to receive supplies at all even with less than 50 MP from the railway!

Oddly, it says we have gotten 91% of our ammo supply, but it is like 10% of what we were getting in 11.03. Has the calculation of supply expenditure changed from version 11?

It would appear that one mission uses about 50% of the ammo and fuel on an airbase. So a squadron is on like 11% travel and the airbase is down to less than 10% ammo and fuel

I wonder if the issue is that for some reason air bases are not asking for enough fuel and ammo? So even though they have plenty of trucks and are sitting on or very near rail lines, they just aren't requisitioning enough. I know that in 1.11 games, a Soviet air base with 100 planes or so on it would have like 300 ammo and 500 fuel under normal circumstances.

could also be that the storage amounts based on aircraft totals was adjusted to low...as airfields have always stacked supply/fuel based on how heavily used they are to my knowledge.

The thing is that you can easily use that 3-500 fuel and ammo in a normal week's attacks without running out of miles on the planes.

I've noticed in playing against the Axis in the early turns that it is really easy to run their bases out of fuel/ammo and then bomb the dickens out of them on the ground. Fun, but hardly historically accurate, I think.

ya is what I was saying above basically....that when the Airbase asks for Fuel/ammo/supply at the start of the turn it asks for that supply based on aircraft, it would seem that the airbases this patch edition may not be asking for enough of those items at the start of phase.
