Thanks! As for LCGs, they are still around, for instance CS Middle East had a few of them. We overhauled the front end user interface a bit for Middle East 2.0, so there's a larger space available for the LCG map IIRC. Also the red dot marking the objective has been replaced with the modern icon used to depict a location, so hopefully that helps too.

Good to know. That should hold me over for a bit. I do hope I'm not the only one that really enjoyed those LCGs. Big red one, blue and gray in normandy, screaming eagles, rumyantsev...fun stuff.

Hello Everyone. Has the install process changed at all. I have a computer using win10 and JTCS seems to have problems with it.

Install the base game then the newest patch?

If one of the developers would please contact me I have a question or two about subjects left over from my time on the team.

Thank You.

Another progress report: the area marked with the red square is some 47 000 hexes. So still one or two hexes to fill. We're all mad here.

Very Nice!

Keep knocking her out Crossroads!

Some of the top down graphics peaks I'm seeing are real good stuff!

Thanks!

Happy new year everyone! It's been a bit quiet with festive season and everything, but here's little something that has been going on. Namely, 'DM729' upgrading the East Front German unit images:

quote:

ORIGINAL: DM729

Here is the PzII. The original was pretty jumbled. I cleaned it up and gave the turret a makeover. Now you can see the main armament.

quote:

ORIGINAL: DM729

Here is the new and improved PzIB. It was a tough one to say the least but I think I got the hull angles to stand out along with view ports and the headlight. It's one of my favorite tanks so I got rather obsessive with it!

A few small touch ups here and there but she's out of the barn!

quote:

ORIGINAL: DM729

Work on EFIII units continues. The PzIVD is here to pound some bunkers on the way to Warsaw.

quote:

ORIGINAL: DM729

I hope everyone had a great Holiday!

Here's a Panzer 35(t) I've been working on. The turret face is all redone as well as the engine deck.

Gotta love those Czech tanks!

Similar to what I posted at the CS Middle East Matrix forum, here's the same for CS East Front.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Crossroads

Build time again for all games under development, meaning new BETAs for CS Vietnam and CS Middle East (2.01 UPDATE), and new ALPHAs for CS East Front and CS Cold War.

Or, new builds for our Modern and WW2 game engines, put another way. As we work towards the eventual release of the Vietnam game, with all new code, graphics, and features added, we keep the other versions up to date and run automated tests on those as well.

Here's a fresh look for the current BETA for the CS Middle East 2.01 UPDATE. I've resized the original 3440x1440 screenshot, but otherwise what you see is what you will get, too. This is the 3D Zoom-in view, with large toolbar. Also note the unit list on the right - edit: err, on the left - is extended as there's more screen estate than compared to the regular HD monitors with 1920x1080 screen sizes.

it is, at CS Legion.

Screenshot from East Front ALPHA, instead:

If anyone is curious: JTCS 2.x was compiled with Visual Studio 2008 which is native to Windows Vista (remember that?). Vista was perhaps not the most succesive operating system ever, but at the same time it was introducing many new things, dynamic scaling IIRC one of them.

I still have JTCS actively installed, and it too runs on the above setup

Panzer I flame-throwing unit:

A number of PzI A and B vehicles were modified to replace one MG with a flame projector fed from a small rectangular fuel tank on the engine deck.

PzKpfw III Ausf.F

quote:

Lots of work being done in the realm of the Panzer III. Proper gun mantlet and bow MG as well as experiments in cammo patterns while remaining true to the Panzergrau base.

Here is a look at the Ausf F variant so far:

I still have my original East Front and West Front disks but haven't played in years having moved to the Combat Mission Series about 20 years ago. However I really like the look of the new terrain in the first two screenshots but not so much the legacy views. This looks like it has a lot of potential and will check in regularly to find out the progress.

Enter the Sturm-Infanteriegeshutz 33B assault gun !!!

quote:

ORIGINAL: DM729

The Sturm-Infanteriegeshutz 33B assault gun used at Stalingrad is a pretty cool little AFV. It never was truly represented in EF, its unit graphic was the same as the Brumbar StuPzIV.

I took the old graphic and turned it into a proper graphic for the StuIG33B.

Of the 24 units produced, 12 were lost at Stalingrad with all but one surviving the war and is now at Kubinka.

Let's blast some buildings!

Guys, this looks great and looking forward to it coming to fruition.
Question: where can we post wish items for this and/or East Front III, etc.? I see a post called Wish List, but is that just for the previous JTCS?

Oh wow, Don is back from the summer hols with more great tank designs

quote:

ORIGINAL: DM729

Another obscure and forgotten German tank, the Neubaufahrzeug was an interwar design which followed the brief trend of multi-turreted vehicles and saw action only during the campaign in Norway.

The original graphic for the game looks to have been created by combining a Soviet T-28 hull with a Panzer IVD turret.

Even though the unit never saw the Eastern Front, it still can be used for hypothetical scenarios.

I decided to create a more authentic graphic. This is still a work in progress but it is coming along nicely. Here is what I have so far:

And thar she blows!

quote:

ORIGINAL: DM729

The Neubaufahrzeug is finally up to snuff.

Lot's of crazy angles and detail to squeeze into a small space but I think she's ready to roll!

Latest from Don:

Reporting in with the SdKfz 251/2 granatwerfer for mobile fire support!

A lit bit of mud splatter but pretty clean otherwise and enhanced mortar.

I only just found out about this project. I used to play the original Talonsoft versions and then the Matrix version.

I then got the new JTS 'Panzer Battles' games Kursk and Normandy thinking they would be the natural successors to these older games. How disappointed I was. They pale to this game, and that is being kind.

So to stumble upon this project, a new and enhanced, and true to the predecessor version of the series is exciting news. Looking forward to it.

That's great, Michael!

We're working on Vietnam at the moment, you can follow along here: Campaign Series Vietnam forum

We also released Middle East a few years ago, you can read about it in this thread Campaign Series Middle East. The Middle East version will be updated to the Vietnam standards after Vietnam is released.

Thank you for your support!

Hate to say it, but I prefer the "legacy" look of the maps above. The "new" look just looks washed out and too "Panzer Generalish" for me.

RR

I'm a little late to the party; it has been a while since I've been on this forum. While the 2D map views look excellent, I agree with RR. I much prefer the legacy 3D. I know these are alpha pics, but that's my nsho. Hope it won't be too difficult to mod if this is what the release looks like.

Still, looking forward to this release... adaptive AI looks incredible.

The 3D will be completely redone by the new artist, he's quite busy with Vietnam at the moment.

Those are outdated 3D screenshots that were done by the old artist.

After struggling with this one for a couple weeks, I think I have begun to get the little guy to look a lot better.

Early War MG Kraftwagen Kfz 13

More to come and a desert model too.

Here's the vehicle in a pic. Must confess I was not aware of this particular armored fighting vehicle...

quote:

ORIGINAL: DM729

Currently working on the Maschinengewehrkraftwagen Adler Kfz.13.

It's a small graphic but I think I can squeeze some more detail out of it.

Stay tuned.
