Simply amazing! Love the field gray for the Germans. Just feels so right. Prefer soviets more light red, but we can't have it all sometimes. Thanks again for an early Warplan mod x-mas gift!

This is my new favorite mod, minus the last change with the HQs, but I have the version just before that, thank goodness.

My only request aside from the HQs is a different color for the Soviets. The Red Army ought to be, well, red.

The HQ counter is under development and if I offer it, it is completely optional. So no worries.

About the red army not being red. Any specific color you would like? Many shades of red you know. Or shall I just pick a proper red?

Ow, and the Swiss are even less of an eyesore now (I did that in the original units.png that is currently up for download too, but I toned down just a little bit more now in this Red Army Variant units mod).

That red isn't quite the red of the Soviet flag, which is what I had in mind, but if that red isn't available, this red works too.

Also, the Soviet HQ red on red isn't great. Maybe that is why they went with brown in the first place, to provide a better contrast. Is it possible to give the HQ units a different background color than the other units? I'm thinking maybe a dark brown here rather than the lighter one.

What about this:


Slightly more flashy red. Brown HQ. I do not want the red to be too bright. Tough color to get right.

Thanks! Still tinkering with the HQs. Not sure yet if it is a good idea. We will see. As long as there is no patch 4 I will keep busy with this. It is addictive... If you have any requests or ideas, bring em on.

Besides the missing Feldgrau the only other quibble I have is the reduced flag size on the HQs vs the earlier versions. I don't think that looks as good. But otherwise, imo, this is a fantastic mod and a great improvement PanzerMike! I'm surprised, but I even like Flaviusx's Red Russians - I've always been a mustard gold Soviet sort.

Glad you like it. The thing is my control of the counters is limited by some hard coded issues. I can not control the color of the strenth point numbers for instance. Many counters in other wargames use white numbers on red Red Army counters. And for good reason. I can not do that. If I overdo the red, the black numbers will be hard to see. So compromise is the word here.

The hexagon HQ could work, but the current ones seem so large and out of proportion compared to the other unit types that it's distracting. I understand you're trying to get a nice big leader image on them, so I don't really have another suggestion at the moment other than perhaps the leader doesn't need to be quite that large.

I prefer HQ in a hexagon, it differs from other units; In my mod I tried to make the HQ transparent but it didn't convince me.

It may just be me, but I am not super excited about these dudes on my HQs. But I am impressed that you found historical figures for all these countries.

My own preference is for symbology, NATO or otherwise, and no pictures of dudes or tanks or whatever. Except aircraft. For whatever reason, that is cool.
