DWU is such a great game. Hopefully DW2 will continue in the same spirit.

Is answers to specific questions out of the question until atleast Thursday or should we start a question thread?

Will DW2 have automation settings for everything as well? That was such a game changer for me because I can play different roles, like a leader of the assassins or a diplomat or something. This made me fall in love with the game because I don't like to micromanage everything!!!

Another thing that would be a game changer would be to allow ground battles to be more in depth with more options too(because being able to successfully invade a planet just by having bigger numbers it's not really a good way to go) and between MORE RACES AT ONCE.

For example, let's say I play as Mortalens and I am at war with Kiadians, and Boskarans are at war with the Kiadians too, and let's say that we both invade the same planet of the Kiadians, so it should be a battle between 3 races. If such a feature would be possible and you could find a way to design it, please consider it. I dream of being able to see a planet invaded by more races at once.

If I and an ally would successfully invade a planet, then have an option to be able to negotiate who keeps the planet, and maybe the one who did send more troops and contributed more to the battle would have a better chance to win the "negotiation" since allies would consider it a bit fair to leave the planet to you since you did almost all the job or the other way if they contributed more. However, if the AI insists to keep the planet in question then you can choose to fight your ally for it. We could have a feature that would allow tension to build between me and the AI ally/allies that contributed in the battle or between two ore more AI players that are allies. Also, if you invade an enemy world and an empire that is neutral to you invaded at the same time, you could have the same thing, negotiate or maybe risk a war with them to keep the planet. I think you got the point.

Also, another thing...when Special Forces invade a planet it would be nice if you could choose what buildings they would target.

The Empire policy needs to be different, because now, if I have my Special Forces recruitment set to very high, I still get very few special forces units and that should not be. If my infantry is set to low and SF to very high, the ratio should be 1:4, so that means 4 times as many SF units compared to infantry.

Reminds me, please try to avoid allowing exploits that allow you to just use Civilian-stockpiled money whenever you feel like it, if possible ? (Which completely screws the whole taxes <-> pop growth mechanic...)

One more technical question,

How many threads is the game able to use? Will it scale well on higher core processors or is it going to be mainly single threaded?

I hope so but I don't want to argue about it again.

2D doesn't always morph into 3D successfully so I'm not going to freak out about it yet.

Well....looks like I may be firing up the old "Trek Team" again if there's modding support!

I'd better get my list going and start checking it twice...Let's see:

Romulan Ale...Check!
Data Repellent...Check!
Cargo Bay Security Recruitment List...Check!
Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards access...Check!
StarFleet Academy Officer Graduation List...Check!

Direct Communicator Frequency to Eric & Elliot...???

Erik??? Elliot??? Anyone!!!

Guess Andorian Ale will have to do for now as I wait!

Wow, this is amazing. LOVE the art style. A bold return to the beautiful school of 2.5D sprites, something that could have theoretically existed in the 1990s and would have been the best game ever created at that time. I would consider this classic look in games equivalent to Baroque painting or Technicolor film.

The pixellated ship designs are the best because the lack of detail makes them haunting - unknowably alien. The vagueness leaves details up to the imagination for the viewer's mind to fill in, which is the great thing about that 2d style, and what makes it so timeless. It also makes sense that these little freighters would seem distant and unknowable to the player.

The fact that ships will be tiny compared to planets now is great, besides being realistic it evokes a feeling of weakness before nature, which fits perfectly with the overall game feel where the universe is mostly out of your direct control.

Nice to see the dark minimalist UI intact. No need to fix what isn't broken. It gives a feeling of continuity with DW:U that makes the improvements really pop out!

Really can't praise the art direction enough here. Bravo.

Now if MP is announced, I am really going to go insane

According to the devs fuke, the game is fully 3D, not 2.5D as I suspected myself, yes, it's quite amazing that they've pulled off an "isometric" look without it actually being isometric. The great thing this means is that we technically can just rotate and pan the camera just like in other 3D top down games, I wouldn't be surprised if we can see this in the coming gameplay reveals.

I saw this on Steam. How come this is not at the top of the entire Matrix forum in bold letters., etc..,

That pic is not the great, but the message that there is life in DW2 gave me a massive chubber. I do not do Twitch, if you put that on YouTube, that would be awesome.

PS - that bottle of Ale looks like a bong.., excellent!

Man! I wait almost 5 years for an event like this (livestream reveal) and wouldn't you know it... I won't be by the computer to see it live! Grrr! (Stupid life stuff! ) I'll have to check out the VOD tonight when I get back.

I'm assuming we'll see a summary posted here in the forums as well?

It was a wonderful sneak peak. A nice info drop about "The same, but bigger and better". And the 2020 release target was a nice info drop as well.

Now just give me some better "automated diplomacy" support...
