Hi.

Just want to know if we are going to see sub tenders in WiTP? Why? Advanced submarine bases.

I was stationed on the USS Orion AS-18.

She was launched 10/14/42. She arrived in Freemantle, Australia on 2/5/44 to begin her mission. She remained there until 8/6/44. On 8/26/44 she appeared at Mios Woendi to establish Advanced Sub Base Able where she tended to 24 subs and 466 surface vessels before being relieved 12/9/44 by Griffin AS-13

The Orion was considered by many of her contemporaries as the lucky tender. Not one sub that she tended was lost to enemy action!

I helped decomm her in September 93', at the time being the oldest active ship in the Navy.

There will be tenders in WiTP - They'll provide torpedo storage as well as repair facilities. If you search through the threads back about 2 months ago there is a post by one of the Alpha testers listing the types of ships included so far and what their effect on the game is...

I'm excited too -- I grew up outside of Groton, CT where Electric Boat's located. Not only was it ground zero for sub building in the US, but the Fulton was also based there... She was at Saipan in WW2 before servicing the fast attacks at New London... Her decommisioning was a sad day.

I also was lucky enough to be there for 3 688 launches...

That must have been exciting, are those the LA Class or Seawolf Class?

A good buddy of mine worked at Electricboat for a few years before coming to our company in Massachusetts.

There will be all sorts of tenders in WitP, tenders I didnt even know existed. There will even be tender tenders, I bet. Advantages will be the ability to rearm torpedos or other weapons depending on the tender type, as well as quicken the repair process. That will be nice considering the amount of system damage US subs take on those long range patrols.

Those were LA Class... My uncle was a doctor at EB for a number of years so the family always got invites to the launches...
