Playing Allies and because the AI ceded A-H territory to Italy in 1915 their NM took a huge blow. It's now July 1916 and A-H surrendered and separated into several new republics (Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Poland, all of which immediately join the Allies with units. Strangely, the new Austrian state still retains Croatia and Bosnia, even though Allied forces were occupying them. Why wouldn't any of this territory immediately join Serbia?

This is because Serbia hadn't surrendered, and the scripts don't take that into account at the moment.

I think I'll have to add in some extra scripts to cater for AH surrendering before Serbia may have done.

Thanks Bill.

One other note regarding AH's surrender, why are Entente forces magically removed from all former AH territory, which is not realistic or fun to deal with? It would make more sense that Entente forces stayed in the new republics that immediately join the Entente, and only vacate neutral Austrian territories. As it is, all my Romanians got zapped back near Bucharest and my Russians who were east of Budapest and in the Carpathians were zapped to Russian territory stretching from Lublin to Proskurov in the Ukraine. Wouldn't the new republics want the Entente forces to stay in place if they immediately end up joining the Entente?

Also, it was a bit annoying that just when I was trouncing the remnants of Bulgaria's army to force Bulgaria's surrender, now there are several German corps that magically popped into Bulgaria that used to be defending north of Belgrade when AH surrendered. Even though there was no land bridge between AH and Bulgaria, they miraculously ended up in Bulgaria. Wouldn't it make more sense if all German forces in AH simply went back to Germany/Poland like when Russia surrenders?

Thanks again!

The even better question: Why would Hungary join the Entente, even Czechoslovakia and Poland is is a stretch, they would be more than occupied with internal problems and preparing some langrab against Hungary than be ready to fight Germany. Serbia should also be removed, as well as Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Montenegro and Greece if they in the war.

Yeah, in reality Hungarian independence meant the rise of Bela Kun, who was, to say the least, not pro-Entente. He basically got Hungary involved in wars with the Czechs and the Romanians.

This just happened me playing as the Alliance (this is my first ever game and I am losing badly, but no matter ) and it is not fun from my point of view either to suddenly have all these other nations and their troops marching against me. Additionally all my troops that were in Austria disappeared leaving it empty and open to attack from the newly created nations.

I'm afraid that new countries cannot be formed with other units inside them, so there is no good way around this.

Thanks for mentioning this as I should be able to fix this.

If they join the Entente then Entente forces can march through their territory to attack Germany, Bulgaria, or the Ottoman Empire, whereas if they are left as neutral then this cannot be done without a declaration of war or diplomacy.

Additionally, these new states may not all have been 100% pro-Entente, but through their actions in undermining one of the main Central Powers they were effectively 100% anti-Central Powers, so having them join the Entente seems the most suitable option available.

Hi

Can you provide me with some detail, were you playing as Central Powers and which units disappeared?

If Austro-Hungarian units then that is to be expected as the Empire has collapsed, but if others then it might require investigation.

Thanks.

Hello! Yes I am playing as the Central Powers so that explains why they all disappeared then, I suspected that might be the case. Thanks for the reply!
