I've wanted to play this for a long time and I'm glad to see Silvanski has not let it fade. The scenario is a work of real imagination and research. Playing against the PO is always if-y. It rarely surprises you and 8 times out of 10 shoots itself in the foot before leaving the barracks. However...

I didn't mean to start an AAR of this when I opened the file some days ago. Some interesting developments have convinced me to post comments in order to advertise the scenario. This probably won't be a regular or thorough AAR.

The Axis player starts with an enormous amount of strength at their disposal. I came into this scenario thinking the Allies have the upper hand and it was up to me to pick apart the European fortress. That is not the case. Well, that is not the case when Elmer's at the wheel.

By the end of turn 3, the Germans and Vichy French navies have gone to the bottom of the sea, taking most of the Home Fleet and French fleets with them. On T3, the Germans unexpectedly invaded Perisa and Northern Iraq. Falschirmjaeger land behind my lines. Turkish troops are pushing into Palestine. The British are falling back and scrambling for reinforcements, dashing my plans to invade Crete.

On turns 1 and 2 the Russians punched through the German outer defenses, but the swift counterattack has stalled the offensive down much of the line. Supply is already terrible at the front.

French armies take Morocco and southern Spain, freeing the Straights from interference. The Germans are attacking Portugal but I'm unwilling to commit more to Spain or Portugal (I have two French Armies in southern Spain already).

Winter shock ends on T11. I'm stockpiling US Corps for an invasion of France from the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts.

The air war is even-stevens. I might have pulled ahead with a few reinforcements, but the Allies are everywhere. It is hard to concentrate AS except in the UK.

I suspect that the PO will exhaust itself faster than a human player would. But I have no idea what kind of losses the Germans can endure. The Russians receive 2000 rifle squads each turn, but I've lost 17,000 already which is about 9% of currently assigned Soviet squads. What's worse, I've got 5,000 on hand, which means rebuilding works slower than training.

Only design comment so far: theater recon might be a little high (at least for the Allies). I'm seeing a lot of Axis units well behind the line and even more during enemy turns. I would consider reducing it slightly (even ahistorically) as that will provide more of a challenge for the human player.

Persian front: Brits forced to fall back from Tabriz as the Germans cut the only road in. The combined German-Turkish invasion of Northern Iraq has torn apart the initial British defense. Not good.

Another comment: The prevalence of roads and rails in the scenario is nicely done. Supply radius is low enough that having the line cut means something.

Spain: Not much opposition, but I'm afraid if I push too far, the 2 armies I've dedicated to Spain will become insufficient, siphoning off troops for the real invasion in spring.

Stalingrad: About to be surrounded...maybe. It won't be the first time in this scenario when I see daylight only to find the Germans have reinforcements. Both prongs are extended, without road or rail, over the Volga. In a turn or two supply effects will sap their strength. Any kind of German reinforcement will stop this.

Astrakhan is a fortress. The Germans have counter attacked, grinding down an entire army of mine.

The other fronts are in flux. A lot of German strength, but a lot of holes. I am not getting the rail repaired fast enough to keep moving.

Computer T4:
Elmer is gunning for Portugal. I can't see them now that it's my turn, but I saw 3 Pz Divs moving on Lisboa during his. The first German/Italian force has reached the French in southern Spain. They haven't engaged, but I can see them. There's an entire Pz Armee camped out in southern France. Yikes! I saw what seemed like 20 divisions move into southern Italy. I am very concerned Elmer is going to try for north Africa again. He dropped Italian special forces on the western end of Malta. I'd welcome the chance to burn the Italians in north Africa, but there's a problem. The invasion of Persia, Iraq and Palestine is worse than I thought. I think the whole Turkish army is moving through Lebanon right now. A dozen German divisions have crossed into the southern Caucasus. The Commonwealth needs to send reinforcements east, but I'm afraid the moment I do that the Italians will land in Libya.

The German counter attacks on the eastern front were pretty brutal. Two panzer divisions smacked the flank of the eastern prong surrounding Stalingrad. The western prong lost several hexes near Saratov. However, recon show nothing between the western approach and the city itself. 4th Pz Armee drove into my advancing troops north of Tambov like they were so much butter. But north of Kalinin, the German line is wide open.

Excellent mini AAR! Well done old pal :)

here is codesigner of scenario... lol just kiddin Silvanski accepted few ideas of mine long time ago.
Well, my idea was that Italian license of PIVH---- lol

Good scenario, I am enjoying it very much as Axis again. Elmer is OK will try to beat him hehe. Maybe will do some funny AAR on Reich defense in 1947.

Silvanski please look for Piero Falloti WW3 1992 War in Europe scenario. It is almsot as good as 1947.

Kind regards to all.

News of my death has been exaggerated lol
