Simply put: Without a robust (and bug-free) CSEE, there is no Vietnam game. The legacy game engine was, by itself, quite incapable of modeling the unconventional, guerilla war that was "the" Vietnam War. Or I should say, all of the many Indo-China wars that the game simulates from the late 1940s through the late 1970s. Adding to that: The CSEE (Campaign Series Event Engine), especially its SAI (Scripted AI) component, is labor intensive, yes; but even more so, it is time consuming. Many, many hours of hands-off auto-testing and manual playtesting and critically observing the results. In the process, finding bugs (scripting, game engine), yes, but also discovering new challenges and better ways to do things. So much time, it all adds up. quote:
