invasion malta scn. help....how do i load troops onto barges for evacuation.tried at waters edge ...tried at piers .....no go...need some advice....thanks

JIM1954 thank you for your reply. i am an old time gamer but a new time forum..er.my problem is getting the barge units into the same hex as the units to be loaded.the former like deep water (no shallow) ,and the latter like the reverse.when i position the barges at the piers , the land units will not move into the same hex..even w/shift key depressed.the barges are moving ...l will end turn and see if land units will advance next turn.

Loading barges is little different from loading trucks , tanks etc.When loading truck , truck and infantry or gun must be in the same hex.When loading barge , wehicles and infantry can be in the adjacent hexes.So procedure is like this : click on barge , click load button ,click on vehicle or infantry unit which is in adjacent hex , now barge is loaded. .Note that you cant load tanks or trucks with loaded infantry or guns.You must first unload truck and then load them separately on barge (you can load few units or vehicles on barge , usually two or three , depends on barge size ).Unloading barge is simple.Click on the barge , click on the land hex and if you have enough movement points barge will unload all cargo automaticaly , while barge itself will stay in water hex.I hope this will help.
