I've been playing WITP:AE since about 2010, if I remember right. I've been reading these forums for many years, though I only posted rarely. There has never been a shortage of excellent AARs to follow, and even when I had no time to play, they at least gave me a taste now and then - not to mention teaching me everything I know about the game. I have more disposable time these days, and I feel it's high time I throw my hat into the ring and enter the glorious world of PBEM games, so I've made my post in Opponents Wanted. My education in wargames started at age 12 or so, when my father gave me Panzer General as a gift (I don't recall the occasion.) I used to love playing the long campaigns, using political power to influence where you'd go next and altering the course of history. On the flip side, I'd always get a kick out of playing the allies in early scenarios and holding in Poland, Norway, or France. I eventually played all the games in the 5-star series (except Star General, but I hear I didn't miss much.) Then followed a different flavor of strategy games as I delved into Star Wars and Star Trek titles, but an itch remained that I could not scratch until I found the original War In The Pacific in 2007. I played it often, despite its shortcomings. When I learned about Admiral's Edition, I paid the fee and never looked back. This game fulfills my gaming needs in a way that I never thought would be possible. I just didn't think an audience existed for a game with the scale and complexity I wanted, but this community, still thriving so many years after the game's release, proves I was wrong. In all the time I've played, I never felt like I had the time to commit to a PBEM game, but times have changed, and I've posted my first challenge in Opponents Wanted. I look forward to chatting with you all about this fantastic game.
