I'm playing the Russian side of Old Grudges Never Die. Less than 1 hour into the scenario, the US keeps becoming hostile with no explanation or provocation on my part. I can't figure out why. Does anyone with experience in this scenario have any insight into what's going on? Thanks in advance.

It's because of syrian rebels who are allied with the US, when you bomb them the US becomes hostile due to how factions work. You can try to fix it in the editor by changing postures but it's gonna be a real pain to make it work properly due to the number of interlocking factions with different postures towards each other. I tried it in the past and the result was always disappointing. It's better to just accept this is how the scenario is meant to be played.

Oh of course! I thought I was only bombing ISIS targets, but I see now that I was doing more than that. Thanks!

Grazyn has hit the nail on the head.

When I built the scenario I was trying to portray the delicate balance of factions and alliances that were present at the time (some have changed lately). You can (and I think should) try and keep things non-hostile by a) not bombing Syrian rebels until you are ready to make the Americans angry or - b) bomb them but in a non attributable way, this is difficult but it involves timing your strike so no US or coalition AC are in the area to identify the shooter. The rebels themselves have no real way of telling who is kicking their butt so if they are alone and isolated you can get away with it - for a while.

Great scenario Bart. As a newcomer to the game I have the pleasure of experiencing the LIVE scenarios for the first time on CMO. I very much enjoyed this one. Didn't quite beat it (average), but I'll try again. (Enjoying the book too, BTW. When I finish it I'll hit the Amazon reviews.)
