Invasions for me are the biggest issue in the game. A few examples from my recent games: Axis invade Iceland before it flips. It is difficult for the Allies to stop this, they tried to intercept the invasion fleet but failed. They can’t tell if they are surface raiders or transports so don’t know how to counter – it takes a lot of warships to cover all the ports in Canada and Iceland. Axis can also quite easily threaten to invade Iran or Iraq around Africa, it is pretty difficult for the Allies to stop this. Allies mass invade any empty ports with small units. Axis can chase them away by railing up ground units and aircraft, but once they are ready to attack the Allied units simply sail away for no loss. Same thing if there was a small unit defender, Allies land and dispose of it and can then evacuate by sea when the Axis forces get too strong. Maybe takes 2 corps of landing craft, kill the defender and then evacuate is a fair exchange of PPs. The problem here is they can get away for free with no air interdiction risk. At a minimum would suggest: Use a different counter for transports (three types; surface warships, subs and transports) Half their MPs. Make them easier to spot for aircraft and warships Allow Interdiction for embarking units (as suggested by MM), that way when you embark there is a risk of being sunk if there are enemy aircraft around. Too many CLEAR turns during winter. We see in most games Belgium gets taken out before Summer ’40. Makes no sense to me to have CLEARS in the winter, can already attack pretty well during the SNOW turns which works fine. The ideas already suggested look good. Link Benelux for DoWs, so attack one and you attack all. That would stop Axis invading Netherlands in ’39. Most of the Specialisations are not much use. I tried testing a couple of them, they are barely of any more value than Elite in the most ideal situations, which means you are probably best going for Elite for just about everything. Give the rest a boost, would bring in some more variation. Blizzard is not working well. Should have a major effect in ’41 and then less so later in the war. But the main issue is that because aircraft don’t fly in Blizzard you can’t dent a good defensive line. In many cases Blizzard just stops offensive action. Multiple air strikes. For me this is a big issue with the game but a complex one. Here is an example from a combat on my last turn. 3 Soviet units attacking a Mech Corps. The initial odds are 3:2 Do 4 bombings and the odds go up to 2:1. This is reasonable, with multiple attacks can probably push it back. Do 6 more bombings and the odds go up to 4:1. Now I can push it back, follow up and push it back twice more and it Shatters. Am getting this kind of result over and over again, hammer a unit to death with bombing and you can do serious damage. Another example was Axis attacking Leningrad. Soviets had their best unit defending, plus 6AA. In two games was able to take it out in one turn, about 8 bombers followed up by multiple ground attacks. Would restrict air attacks to 4 per hex. This would have a major impact on the game which would probably require some rebalancing elsewhere. Am thinking you might need multiple ground attacks to have more impact on the defender, otherwise things could get a bit stagnant. Would mean to attack a choke point like Leningrad you would probably have to wear the defenders down over a few turns.
