Hello, fresh install & patch to 1.6 on my Asus laptop. When I start the game using the shortcut or the executable itself, the game seems to start, I get a black screen for a moment and the CTD. No error message.

Thanks in advance

Hi SwampYankee68,

Sorry to hear about the trouble and I would try again after a reboot as sometimes anti virus software will temporarily question an updated EXE before finally resolving that all is good. If it still doesn't work after that let me know.

Hubert

I rebooted last night. But when I get home from work I'll disable Avast & try to run it.

Thank, mang

It might just be a matter of whitelisting the program for Avast then.

As an aside, I run Avast and sometimes you just have to run the game a second time after it does its thing (shuts the EXE down, scans and clears it) the first time around, or simply wait a little bit before the A/V lab that Avast communicates with clears the new EXE on their end and then let's your local copy of Avast know all is well etc.

It didn't "learn" it but I manually told it to permit the executable and it did. All set. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, brother!
