A beta set of files is now available that fixes a variety of issues but most importantly the long range amphibious transport problem that was reported when v1.06.00 was released.

NOTE: All saved games are compatible, however, and unfortunately, the long range amphibious transport error will not be corrected until a new game has been started using this beta hotfix.

1) To download, please click on this link below and then select 'Download' from the upper right hand corner of the Dropbox screen.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4bak45fycmudkmv/SC3%20WaW%20v1.06.01%20Beta%20Hotfix%20Files.zip?dl=0

2) Decompress the package, and copy/paste the game EXE and the Campaign folder from the package directly to your root installation folder for the game overwriting the default files.

Typically, this folder would be found here on your system:

\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War

STEP 1 - Extract the files

STEP 2 - Select all of the above Hotfix files (ctrl key + left mouse click)

STEP 3 - Paste all the files into this folder

STEP 4 - Confirm replacement of files

v1.06.01

GAME ENGINE CHANGES/FIXES
- Fixed several text display issues under German, French and Spanish localization.
- Fixed several other text display issues within the various popup, information and question boxes when text was at or over maximum line length.
- Fixed an issue where a Fortified Town that became a Capital was reverted to a City instead of back to a Fortified Town when the Capital setting was reversed (Captain Tuttle).
- Fixed an issue where units arriving from a UNIT script event could not reinforce/upgrade/operate/transport. Now only those that arrive during a country join event will be restricted for the very first turn they arrive.
- Fixed a bug that allowed AI Engineers to reinforce after an attempted move towards a fortification building position (bootlegger267).
- Fixed a SURRENDER_2 game engine handling error that did not properly convert enemy hex control in some situations (Mithrilotter).
- Fixed a rare error that provided some Tank units with immediate entrenchment after moving when it should have been set to zero.
- Custom campaign strategy guides will now launch from the campaign Manuals folder, previously it was the Docs folder, e.g. Campaigns\_myCustomCampaign\Manuals\Strategy Guide.pdf

All Campaigns
- Amphibious Transport (Long Range) increased from nil to zero for all applicable nations so as to enable them to increase via Amphibious Warfare research.

1939 Campaigns
- Fixed an AI OFFENSIVE plan error that had the US AI attack Tangiers when Spain was not yet in the war.
- Fixed Vichy France creation script event error (Erse, Ragu).
- Fixed a Norwegian surrender script event error (Carsten).
- Added a DE 318 UNIT event for when 'no' is selected (sschnar1).

Hi Hubert

Thanks for the hotfix.

Not being the most clued up person with computers.

I have downloaded and copied and pasted the files into the campaign folder.

Is this correct?

If not could you provide a idiots guide preferably a screen shot of where to paste each of the files.

Thanks Mike

Hi Mike,

Not quite. What you need to do is copy the files from the hotfix and paste them all into the game folder that has the game EXE.

This way the game EXE will be overwritten and the Campaigns will be overwritten, and thus replaced.

If you've done this correctly, you should receive a warning message that the files are about to be overwritten (from Windows) and you want to say Ok or Yes to do that.

Then if you launch the game it should say v1.06.01 if you've done it all correctly.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

Try the download link and files again, it should now allow for PBEM++ server access.

Goddang. The RAR keeps locking up at halfway unpacked.

Hi Hubert

Thanks - But I didn't get the message you said should come up, so could you give a idiots guide for people like me who aren't that computer savvy, with a screen shot of where to paste the hotfix to.

Thanks Mike

This might be your AV software not liking the package.

This is weird. When I DL the file is shows the 6.4 megs of data but then when I decompress the file it says the folder is empty.

Anyone got an idea? I've tried various apps for the decompression without any luck.

Even DLed from dropbox to another CPU, burnt it to a disc, and still the same result when it decompresses.

The size of the download should be 63 MB, perhaps you are currently not downloading the entire package?

If you click on the link, you'll need to then either select Open->Download (if you have an existing login to Dropbox) otherwise just clicking the Download button should do the job for you.

Let me know if this helps,
Hubert

The HQ crashing issue is from what I can tell linked to the Iron Cross mod, can you confirm? For example, playing the game without the mod enabled to see if it still occurs?

The fix would be to either apply the original v1.06.00 patch again (not the hotfix), e.g. download it again (as it has been updated) and then reinstall it.

Or to download and apply the fixed Iron Cross mod found here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4584600

Hope this helps,
Hubert

Hi Hubert / Bill

TaffJones and I are in a PBEM++ that started on v1.05.
My understanding is that the game version won't change and won't be affected by LRAT bug / fix

Is that correct?

I'm not sure about TaffJones, but I use steam

Tried again and got the 64753 kb file but its not in a format that I can extract.

Must be something about the .rar file that my CPU doesn't like. I don't get it because I've got numerous other files from dropbox that are in a .zip format that work flawlessly.

Not running any AV other than defender.

I don't suppose you could make the file available in a .zip format?

.rar compressed files requires .rar specific decompression. I didn't have this myself but was able to get a free version of 7-Zip to do the job.

I believe all previous games are now affected by the LRAT bug until the hotfix is applied. But the fix will only work until you start a new game.

Apologies again for the inconvenience,
Hubert

Yes, actually that should have been a zip file to begin with and sorry about this as zip is definitely more common. First post edited and zip file now linked to above.

Any word when this fix will be available on Steam?

I am not really wanting to go through the whole matrix paste RAR files deal.

Am I correct to say that when the fix is implemented all previous games will basically have to be restarted unless the axis player is ok with having the Japs have no LRTs?

Regarding Steam, we are working on and I apologize again for the delay. It is in the works I can at least say that and hopefully soon if all goes well.

The Matrix hotfix would not work for Steam regardless as Steam would reject and replace those files either way, this is just something that Steam does and one of the reasons I could not post the hotfix for Steam the same way we did for Matrix.

Yes, unfortunately to fix the bug, all games will have to be restarted fresh and apologies again for the inconvenience of that.
