A Ki-30 flies to Mao's hex

Germany

Two 5-strength stukas fly to Antwerp

Italy

A Ba.65 flies to the French corps in the Alps on the Swiss border

Antwerp:

It looks like the British have two 5-quality aircraft that can intercept. The Germans have 3 x 5, 1 x 4 and 1 x 3. What do the CW want to do?

CW intercept the raid with one FTR2 (Hurricane IIA). If it survives, it lands in hex 49,29 (East of London).

Ok. Are you sure it was Antwerp you targeted? As Antwerp is within range.

Anyway, land it is Calais instead.

Edit: I see that it was Brussles from the air combat picture. It doesn't matter. End result is still the same.

Due to rumours of Corona virus in Milan the Lyon militia puts a No entrance sign at the borders to Italy and then leaves for some nearby mountain village cafés.

Rail Movement: None
Land Movement:
Italy

Graziani moves out of the way for the Roma Motorised Corps to take part in the attack on the Lyons Militia.

Germany

Manoeuvring takes place around Brussels

Japan

The Japanese use their three moves to continue moving units on the Tungkwan-Haichow road west.

Land Combat:
Germany

One attack announced against Brussels

Italy

One attack announced in the Alps

For the Brussels attack the Germans bring in a Ju-88 and stuka

For the Alps attack the Italians order up an SM.79

The odds at Brussels is 38.5:12 (3:1) and (assuming both aircraft get through) is 46.5:12 (3:1). The Germans have 1 x 5, 1 x 4 and 1 x 3 range fighters they could still bring in.

Do the CW wish to fly?

Yes, CW send some air in defensive support of Brussels.

1 x FTR2
1 x LND2 (Battle)
1 x LND3 (Hampden with 1 in FTR value)

The LND2 is front bomber, and the LND3 will be cleared first.
CW abort, or destroy, German bombers if we have the choice.
CW abort if they fight at -4, or worse. (They stay at -3 or better)
Land the aircraft in the hexes they flew from.

CW selects the assault table for Brussels
The Belgian INF is designated as first loss unit.

Land Combat: (Air to Air Combat subphase)

Round 1:

Allies: 14 - (DA) The Germans abort their front fighter
Axis: 17 - (DX) There is no instruction for this scenario. In order to move the game on I destroy the Battle on behalf of the CW. The rationale is that the CW need to destroy the German bombers and removing their only fighter will put the German bombers through and give an A2A differential that would end the combat (according to the instructions above +4/-4). The pilot survives

Round 2:
The battle swings in the CW favour (+1/-1)

Allies: 6 (DX) The Germans destroy their stuka (the pilot survives)
Axis: 11 (DC) The CW bomber is cleared through

There is little value in the Germans sticking around on a -1 and so they abort.

Land Combat:

That means both the attack on Brussels and in the Alps are at 2:1+1

Brussels:

The fractionals work (329 thrown) and the land throw was a 6(7). The Allies lose both units. The Germans lose their engineer and all units are disorganised.

The Alps:

The fractional work (56 thrown) and the land throw was a 9(10). The Allies lose their unit.

Air Rebase:
Italy

The Italian fighters re-base to Turin

Germany

A bomber rebases to Cologne

Reorganisation:
Germany

All three HQ are used to reorganise as much as possible - which effectively means all but one unit in the front line but only one fighter.

Good call in destroying the Battle.

I had that in the original instructions but ´there was an error when I posted it. So I had to re-write it. And I then noticed it was one instruction shorter but I couldn't figure out what was missing.

After the Italian blitz through the alps Petain, from his residence in Vichy, urges Reynaud to sue for peace with Mussolini, but due to constant communications breakdown the orders to surrender never reach the front, and so the fighting continues for now.
