Welcome to a rematch between ourselves. Sides as before. I am the rebel alliance and Warspite1 the evil empire.

It isn't an exact repeat as the following changes to the optional rules used in the original have been made.

1. Playing with 2D10.
2. Kamikazes included. Not available when we started the last game. Hope this is okay with you Warspite1? We didn't discuss this but now they are available it doesn't seem right not to include them and it's your choice on deployment anyway.
3. Having followed the thread on house rules for China, we are experimenting with having Additional Chinese Cities turned off. We think it's regarded as pro Allied so not having them presumably impacts on the Chinese more than the Japanese. I can't recall seeing any AAR's played without the Additionals (apologies if I am discrediting anyone) so this is a first stab at seeing whether existing game mechanics can obviate the necessity for additional rules.

Looking at the revised strategic situation, USSR decides there are more pressing diplomatic matters to attend to in Europe and hasn't got time to concern itself with border disputes with the Japanese. No pact has been agreed.

Sorry so just to be clear, are we saying no pact with the Soviets and Japanese and therefore its the garrison rules that apply (or in other words - do you mean we are playing the same as before? ).

Happy with everything suggested.

I don't care what Edwin Starr thinks. Let's go to War!!

No pact, no garrison rules, war between USSR and Japan could be declared at any time by either side.

Or it could be Folly a Deux: Le Relapse.

The US are not currently interested in getting involved with foreign wars and are maintaining a strict policy of neutral isolationism.

In the west, USSR puts CAV at Minsk. Other land and air forces are deployed to Bessarabia.

Uncharted territory for me regarding Chinese set up without Additional Cities but here goes. In addition, a MIL and INF are at Chengchow.

Notable parts of CW setup. Queens and TRANS at Plymouth along with Gort and MOT. TRANS at Liverpool with MOT. TRANS at Alex' with Wavell. With the light Italian setup in Africa, an AA gun I would normally place with Wavell went to Singapore. After drawing mainly size 3 CVP's, the RN only has the Ark Royal at Gib' and Glorious at Aden ready to go. Two other CV's are at Plymouth waiting for the CVP's to shrink to fit. Naval forces split as usual between Atlantic, Med and Pacific.

French scraps

The French have an INF at Beruit and an INF at Algiers. The TRANS starts at Algiers. The BB's and most of the CA's are at Marseilles. A CA/CL squadron at Algiers and another at Beruit. Bearn with a rubbish size 1 CVP is at Brest (other draw was a size 3 that won't fit until '41) along with a CA.

I am glad to see someone try China without additional Chinese cities, but just looking at that map I think that we will now know why we play with them!

No pact between the Soviets and Japan is interesting. I've bolstered the Manchurian garrison as a result.

Thanks Courtenay.

It's a brave, some might say foolishly reckless, attempt to see whether the China vs Japan situation can provide an enjoyable gaming experience for both sides whilst still using the existing game mechanics rather than house rules.

Gazing at intelligence reports of the latest Japanese deployments, whilst they are all fervent party members, the Chinese Communists start identifying and praying to any god remotely associated with rain and/or winter weather. "It's all just superstition but who knows and we need a contingency plan" said an unidentified spokesman.

The German set-up is a little different to the norm (well the previous tactics haven't been conspicuous for their brilliant results ).

The US are moderately unhappy at this latest turn of events (5 rolled, 1 chit drawn).

The Polish forces deploy.
