You need to be running as administrator or if it comes up, on mine in W10 there is a pop up window that I can click on continue to do so and override that restriction.

You should probably work through Microsoft support for that. It sounds like you are putting files where you shouldn't or you aren't the admin for the PC.

Are you using the Steam version or the Matrix one?

For any game, it is not a good idea to install them in 'Program Files' or 'Program Files (x86)' due to the controls Windows has on these folders.

I usually have a c:\Games or c:\Matrix or such folder to install my games in. You don't need any special permissions to use your own folders

When you log on to Windows, that's always using a particular user account. That account should have administrator privileges - that would be typical if it's your own machine. You can check in Start->Settings->Accounts. If you're using a non-admin account, just change to using an admin one - create a new one if necessary.

If it's not your machine, you'll have to talk to the owner for access to that.

Trying to update to version 1.01.11431 with the "Update Program". "Error unable to open an ftp file".
I downloaded the update manually, but not sure where to unzip it to.

If it's the full .exe updater, should be able to place it nearly anywhere and run it.
