So..was doing some research...

I have had a single Grand Campaign game going against Kbullard since Dec 20, 2009. That is the date he mailed me the first turn (not counting the password establishment turns).

Can anyone beat that?

We played other scenarios previously, but this is the latest one we started.

And here is the thread that started it all...WitP...NOT WitP AE. This was our first contest.

wow. I'm not aware of a longer one. I know Mike's AAR with Ted is also pretty old, but not 2009 old.

11 years? That means you're common-law married in West Virginia, Michigan and Arizona.

Congratulations!

I don't think I've had a match last longer than about three years. I don't know any that have come close to 11.

See, this is what happens when you take time off to make those "The Game is Borked" threads.  Karma.

Wonder how long ours was? When you add the break in time when it stopped to it's restart to completion? Hmmm...

We started that game in late 2012 and suspended it in September 2013. We resumed in December 2015 (IIRC) and finished in 2018. So it might've spanned as many as six years but with a 2.25-year sabbatical thrown in. It was epic but not 11-years epic!

No common law marriage in Arizona. Friends found that out the hard way when he was diagnosed with cancer after they were together for 10 years. They married at his hospital bedside and hoped he would live long enough for her to be eligible for things as his spouse (he did).

Thanks, witpqs. I picked the states randomly, as part of a joke, but shouldn't have listed any.

In Georgia there used to not be any time limit on common law marriage. If a man and a woman held themselves out to be husband and wife, they were common law married (whether it be 10 years or four days). That created some issues, such as inheritance claims, so the state did away with CL marriage about 20 years ago.

Apparently only you and I love old B&W war movies and obscure quotes from German actors

I "thought" the humor was obvious

I "The Longest Day", the BBC signal to the French Resistance that the invasion was imminent was "Wounds my heart with a monotonous languor".
I presume Macclan5 translated that into German and substituted the names of two German actors which are capitalized. If I knew any German Actors I might think it funny.
