I just recently purchased Victory and Glory Napoleon. When I start up the game it only covers 1/4 of my computer screen. It doesn’t matter what resolution I use. It’s so small on my screen that I can’t play the game. My eyes aren’t good enough anymore to read fine print and such a small game screen. Can anyone give me some help on this problem. Thank you in advance.

I cannot help but think that great results would have been obtained had my views been thought better of; yet I am much inclined to accept the present condition as for the best.

Sorry to hear that the game isn't running nicely on your machine. Can you please run dxdiag.exe, export the results using the "Save All Information..." button, and upload that file here? Or send it to me via pm?

You can use the Search Box at the bottom-left part of the screen in the Windows Explorer to find dxdiag and launch it from the window that will popup.

Thanks!

In the meantime you can also try the following.

1. Download this preferences file and put it in place of your existing prefs.dat file. That is located at a path like

C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Victory And Glory Napoleon\User Data\prefs.dat

Here is the link for the prefs.dat file to use: debug_prefs_file

2. Make sure that your current screen resolution is 2560 x 1600 or smaller.

3. Start the game directly using the (Quick Launch) version on the Windows Menu.

That might do the job.

A little more detail: download that prefs.dat file using the link above and save it somewhere convenient, such as your desktop. Right click on the downloaded file, use the Cut command, and then navigate to ...Matrix Games\Victory and Glory Napoleon\User Data and right click in empty space in that folder and use the Paste command. Then confirm that you want to replace the existing prefs.dat file.

Well, I was suffering from a lack of brain food, apparently, when I posted my previous response. Before trying any of that other stuff, please set the game's exe to ignore high DPI scaling. Here is the procedure for Windows 10:

Navigate to the game's installation directory. You are using the Steam version. That will ordinarily be located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Victory and Glory Napoleon

Right click on Napoleon.exe and select the Compatibility tab. Click on Change high DPI Settings. Check the box Override high DPI scaling behavior. Choose Application from the popup menu beneath that button.

Now run the game from Steam as you normally would.

If this doesn't work, please contact me directly via PM if that is convenient.
