Micro Update 5.59 https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ap7XOIkiBuUwhZAU7bdtWbbscE_oLgThis update is limited to scenario and documentation files. This update only contains scenario files. Although most of the work was done on Russian land units and related formations if they have one, there was considerable work on class and ship files, and some on device, leader (H), as well as aircraft and group files. Almost all of these were also Soviet, but all (or virtually all) Allied tug and barge combinations (including fuel barges) and the related classes were also reworked. The most interesting change is the addition of drop tanks to the later version of the IL-2 Sturmovik, the 2M, as well as to the IL-10. It turns out that IL-10 had some errors as formerly defined. It had armament from 1947 (it was a long service aircraft), and needed to have 1945 weapons. In spite of being considered a "second generation Sturmovik" - it isn't. It is a renamed IL-1. Oddly, the IL-1 is later than the IL-2, but it isn't a fighter, and odd designations were required to be even numbers - only fighters can have odd numbers. [IL-2M is a violation of this rule too - it IS a fighter plane - the original IL-2 and the IL-10 are bombers.] The main significance of this change is that the IL-10 did not have the armored box of the IL-2 series, just a similar layout. Note that the IL-2M was a very peculiar "strafe fighter" - armed WITHOUT ANY rockets or bombs - intended as a tank destroyer and also as a bomber destroyer. So it is classified as a fighter. By 1945, the Russians didn't like heavily armored fighters, as they could not catch large bombers by then. So the IL-10 has normal armor (rated as 1) while the IL-2 and IL-2M are very unusual with an armor rate of 2. [Almost no RHS aircraft are so rated. In JES Scenarios, however, the Sterling, with its geodesic structure almost impossible to destroy, also is modeled with a rating of 2.] The names of all Soviet Naval Air Force air units were modified for two reasons. First, long named so not display well in game. Second, the names often included the group as well as squadron designation. But in fact the groups often changed, so even if they start right, they ended up wrong. One duplicated unit was changed. Instead, a start of war unit has its name changed. There may be other duplicates. I used 1941 and 1945 orders of battle to built the TOF (Naval Air Force), and other units may have changed names and I didn't realize that. A Russian player is reviewing the data. Indeed, much of his data has been submitted, but I have not yet worked it all in. The most important and famous of the NKVD's Gulag fleet (of which four ships served in the Far East throughout WW2, is added as a class and a ship. Dzhurma is a passenger-cargo ship, slightly larger and faster than most of the AKs serving the Soviet Pacific Fleet. Many Soviet infantry divisions were re-reviewed and updated because of numerous technical changes made to Soviet division formations during the last few updates. Like USMC, Soviet infantry squads update during WW2. So at least some of them change from using 1941 (pre war) squad types to 1942 or 1944 squad types. Others changed their AAA outfits, or other heavy weapons. Some Soviet HQ were changed, and some officers were added or changed. There will be at least one more such Soviet oriented update, adding at least 3 more NKVD ships (and captains for them). Some duplicated air units may be removed. Other eratta will be worked in. And a few other Allied merchant or support ships (particularly small ones) will be removed.
