Gents,

See the attached screenshot.

I have the S 601 Rubis at periscope depth in the first submarine tutorial. I brought it up to perform a BDA on the cargo ship target.

Interestingly, the sensor contacts show "Mark I Eyeball". That's great: the periscope is up and the sub can see the ship.

However, periscopes do have magnification, yes? This should be far better at sussing out details than the vanilla eyeball.

As well, it should be far worse at locating/seeing objects above it, than would a lookout posted with binos.

I know the game tweaked photonic masts: it seems like regular periscopes are not?

Ken

And the image of the sensor screen:

To make it a question: Is the Mark I Eyeball just (as it implies) a raw set of eyes, or does it include an assumption of optical magnification?

The scenario uses an old database before changes to periscopes were added. Update it and you'll see it uses optical sensors at periscope depth and mk1 eyeball (lookouts) when surfaced.

Thanks!

I -hate- when I forget to do that. Sigh.

I appreciate the help. Especially the manner in which it was given. (Don't worry: I'm embarrassed enough to have forgotten to do the database check.)

Regards,
Ken
