Great deal, but I'm still working on Civ 5.

clicky for game

When I saw this it started me a thinking. I should have waited. I bought VI at full price 70.00 when it came out. Its been sitting on my hard drive. Only twice have i opened it up, did not play a game (just tinkered with it). So being curious I went to steam seeing a gigantic update, the Maya and Columbian pack. am downloading it as i write this. There was a charge for it the last time I visited Steam a year ago. I also saw I have an update to Crusader KingII. In this time of shutdown. I still have not played either one. Some games I have to force myself to play (I might like them). Is what i'm experiencing classified as being a creature of habit? Only interested in games I like. Why won't I branch out?!!!
Its telltale that i don't visit steam.

Civ VI is not worth it. They would have to make massive improvements for me to ever buy another in this series again, Civ VI imo broke a great series of games.

At release - agree
with the DLCs - I find it quite good, but not the best Civ game

Uhm...it's free. I spent $0.00 yesterday when I bought it.

Well free is hardly asking too much. I likely won't care for it, but now I can find out leisurely.

CIV 6 is awesome!! Like most on here, we like the hard games. I am addicted to HOI 4 and I will be to Shadow Empires when that comes out., etc.., But I always come back to CIV 6. It is not a beer and pretzel game, but if you know what you are doing, it is hard to lose. Again, GREAT GAME, with so much to do. I saw that it is Free (because I am playing Old World on Epic, which is fantastic).., I wonder how or why they are offering such a mega game for free? I do not get it.

Hmm, I am wondering how many DLCs come with it, they can be pricey, but worth every penny? I have all of them including the new one.., interesting.

The version Epic is giving away is just the base game; no DLCs included.

Not sure how they can give away Civ VI this week, and GTA5 last week. Must be costing them a bit.

And next week another Mystery game to be given away. Rumor is their next two free games will be: Borderlands The Handsome Collection (starting May 28) and ARK: Survival Evolved (starting June 4). Previous rumors about Civ VI being free were accurate so, these two may end up free as well. Neither one a wargame, but still free

When a business's product isn't a physical item on a shelf, it's not hard to 'give it away'.

I noticed that the doc and expansions are not going cheap. I'm sure giving away the base game has not hurt them much if at all.

40% of ownership is chinese. They want your business so they give away games and you install their software on YOUR computer.

Chinese company Tencent bought 40% of Epic in 2012.

Here is a FREE game
-I do not like it
-I do not like the guys giving it away
-I do not like pickles
-I do not like the heads up on the free game.

Come on people, it is fine that you are negative to something, but the old saying "if you cannot say anything positive about something, stfu", seems like something you all need to consider imo.

It is a free game, it is on Epic, they are doing this as they are trying to compete with Steam. Take it or leave it. Jeez.

Aye. Give the base game away and maybe people will buy the DLC.

What's the worst thing that can happen?
No, really, what's the worst thing that can happen.

I'm already using Google, FaceBook, I've done online banking, filed my taxes online.
What's the worst that can happen?
Seriously.

My computer isn't doing anything vital.
I am a nobody.

I don't care who Epic Games is owned by.
It means aaaaaabsolutely nothing to me.

My only observations have been, the game is free, which is likely a reflection of how much it's worth. And the DLCs are not cheap. Which likely means they are getting enough money already.

As for the game launcher, I'm more concerned by Windows 10 being on my computer.

Yeah, like that game called Minecraft that's everywhere. The guy that made it only made a couple billion off it. Cartoony trash.

I'm a lot like that. It takes a lot for me to pay full price. I DID pay full price for Bannerlord (well, there was a 10% discount or so first week) and am seriously disappointed.

I have games on Steam on my wishlist and wait for them to be on sale. I got Civ 6 for free, but I dunno if I'll even play it. Civ V was "OK".

On top of that Minecraft has blocky graphics. But hey, larger number of people have always liked simpler games. Sure Elite sold well and made its creators millionaires, but I'm pretty sure Super Mario Bros (original for Famicom/NES) well outsold Elite.
