With a small complement of planes, only 6 fighter I cannot see using them by them selves. 8linstead I am going to link them up with the E.
Wondered what others do with them?

Whatever you do take the British squadrons off and put US squadrons on. The US carrier planes are way better and the pilot pool way larger.

As for PoW and Repulse, if you save them, they're the only BBs early on that can keep up with the US CVs.

That's a really good idea of putting us plabes on them.
I was thinking of using it as a giant air transport ship but yiur idea seems very good.
I have some SBD, Vindacators, and Buffalos. That are CV capable I could put them in the ship let it sit and train them up.
I have been tild it takes 3 months to go from capable to working.

That's not exactly correct. Carrier capable squadrons can go into full operations on CVs from the get go. I'm not sure what's gained when the squadron becomes carrier trained, perhaps fewer ops losses, I don't know, but I just don't worry about it.

OK thanks!
Other question. I have a AP ship I have to get ride of and there is no button to do that.
What am I missing?

You have to put it in an appropriate port and it will happen automatically. Until you get it to that port you will pay after the required time. Has to be a national port or something. For the US that would be Pearl (I think) or one of the coasts or Panama. For Britain I think your best bet is Capetown.

"Carrier trained" is supposed to mean fewer ops losses when operating off a deck. I haven't noticed any effect, but I also haven't paid attention.

On ship withdrawals, I don't think Pearl would work. Sydney, the big West Coast ports and Bombay all seem to work. Someone with a manual can chime in (probably Level 9 or 10 port on an Allied home continent).

Cheers,
CB

Here are my notes (probably a collation of Alfred/michelm info):

On map withdrawal ports are set based on the historical exit locations for ships leaving the Pacific:

1. Any level 9 port.

2. National home ports of the United States, Canada, India, Australia, and New
Zealand (with no port level requirement)

FYI, here are the current national bases {primary, alternate}:
{ BASE_SAN_FRANCISCO, BASE_EASTERN_USA }, // US Navy
{ BASE_SYDNEY, BASE_MELBOURNE }, // Australia
{ BASE_AUCKLAND, BASE_CHRISTCHURCH }, // New Zealand
{ BASE_ADEN, BASE_UNITED_KINGDOM }, // British
{ BASE_UNITED_KINGDOM, 0 }, // French
{ BASE_KARACHI, BASE_ADEN }, // Indian
{ BASE_MOMBASA, BASE_CAPETOWN }, // Commonwealth
{ BASE_VANCOUVER, BASE_CANADA }, // Canada

3. Any level 7 or larger port on the US or Canadian West Coast.

4. Any level 7 or larger Indian port East of Ceylon (including Ceylon itself)

5. Any level 7 or larger port in South Eastern Australia, plus Perth.

6. Any level 7 or larger port in New Zealand.

Hi,

I’ve been using Illustrious, with its small planes capacity, to help repulse a jap invasion in andaman islands in Sep-Oct 42, twice with success. Even with the venerable Swordfish squad.

Good catch.

Probably it is WEST of Ceylon, which would include Bombay and Karachi, provided you build them up.
