I really miss the the great Excel File WitpExcel04 from Aawulf (see
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=911291&mpage=1&key=󞞻)

It is a great Tool for mass changes of a scenario (Import, Change and export) but also for Planing

Download here:
http://mathubert.free.fr/witp_files/WitpExcel042.zip

I once managed to make it work with WitpAE also, but i lost the version and i'm overhelmed with the complexity of the code.
So at the moment i can only import the datafiles, but the Summary Tab is not filling with data..

It's a pity so a great Tool.

It would be helpful to have an Utility that helps to (mass) change a Scenario like this one

(Good old time of the WITP game time )

The SCEN folder contains a file called witploadAE.exe which is a tool to dump the scenario files into .csv files for Excel and to convert them back into scenario files.

You need to use the DOS window of Windows - use "Windows key + r" to open the "execute" box and enter

cmd.exe /K "cd c:\matrix games\war in the pacific admiral's edition\scen\"

You need to modify the path if you have not installed the game in the default path.

In the scenario folder path, you enter the following commands - with xx being the scenario number:

To export scenario #xx in the current directory
WITPLOADAE.exe /e /s0xx

To import scenario #xx in the current directory
WITPLOADAE.exe /s0xx

In fact, there are two versions of witploadAE.exe, the original 2009 release and an enhanced 2013 version with more data columns available.

I attach the 2013 version for your convenience.

Yes. I know i often use these tool. Thank's

It is the same as all the tools use in the background. It would be nice to import all the CSV into Excel, resolve the references. Make mass changes of the scenario and export again to CSV. I have once startet to make one, but limited time and Excel-Knowledge i didn't continue.

Thanks for the shout out.

That was a very long time ago. Originally Rich Dionne produced an Excel editor for PacWar and contacted him about the ideas I had to expand upon what he had done at the time. The challenges then were the fixed pieces of data that didn't fit well where they were stored and having to identify what just couldn't be altered without making a big mess.

With WitPAE, the challenge has been huge ranges and my less nimble mind. I used to be able to crunch the numbers in my head, but my kids call me "boomer" now for a reason.

That said, I have been slowly working through both WitPAE and War In the East for mass editing. I found though that by adding a macro, the "load" process was a less painful way than finding all of the ranges to go about reaching many of the same capabilities. I too miss the summaries from WitPExcel though.

I find myself drawn back from time to time. As much as I love the Grigsby games and the thousands of hours I have committed to them, I have honestly never finished a full campaign. I think I enjoy the chase of trying to figure out faster ways to create scenarios and manage a game as much as I do playing the game. And then there is real life as a father that I have to dabble in too. Well, now that my youngest is 17, I have to beg them to take up my time these days. Whenever I want a deep dive gaming experience, there is no real alternative to the WitP's for a combined arms theater experience.
