The results of the ground assault were both surprising and disappointing, but seeing only 14 AV currently present on the enemy side is encouraging. Our troops are 43% and 65% fatigued plus 90% and 70% disrupted. The two units have more than 90 AV disabled (plus artillery and support). They also have lots of supply, and over stacking is 38% so supply draw will be large but not horrible. More than 8,300 supply remains on the transports which can be unloaded when the assault resumes. The fleet will move 2 hexes east to evade submarine attacks. There is one APA capable of making only 2 knots: quote:
APA Calvert runs onto reef while attempting to unload at Marcus Island Calvert will break off with one DD and make a crawl for it. • Detection levels of our submarines N and NW of the northern Marianas makes me suspect enemy carriers there, so the TF of 8 subs will break apart to join others on patrol there. Our fleet jinking 2 hexes east might be unexpected. BTW, South Dakota's damage is 20-11(6)-2-0, so she won't break off right away. New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain • We get one, they get one. quote:
