Hi guys,
I'm not an expert at the game by any stretch and keep learning deeper concepts every time I play it but I've started to put together a tutorial series to try and help new players understand what is going on and hopefully make the gameplay experience more enjoyable.

The playlist is here:
SHADOW EMPIRE Tips and Tricks

The videos (so far) as as follows:
00 Introduction
The first handful of videos covers basic setups mainly geared to new players
01 Game setup for First Time Players
02 Planetary Classes
03 Planet Generation
04 Choosing your Empire Profiles
05 Turn One Decisions
06 Important Turn Reports and History
07 Setting up your Economic Council
Video 8 touches on logistics but not in a deep manner.
08 Basic Resource and Asset Management
Video 9 shows the depth of the combat system.
09 Combat
Videos 10 to 12 take a close look at the complexities of the logistics system.
10 How to Identify Logistics Problems
11 Logistics ~ Road and Rail
12 Logistics Limitations and Traffic Signs
Videos 13 and 14 give information about getting effective fighting units.
13 Model Design
14 Managing Units and Formations
Video 15 looks at the various aspects of managing cities and zones and hint at the characters.
15 Managing Zones and Cities
Video 16 shows an approach to capturing your first city and then managing it afterwards to bring it back into a stable, productive zone.
16 Case Study: City Siege and Management
Videos 17 to 19 takes a deep look at the interaction between characters and the roles they play.
17 Leaders and Characters
18 Jobs and Councils
19 Factions

I'll be adding videos over time so this should end up growing to quite a large number of videos I would assume.

I get criticism a lot about how long it takes me to explain concepts so with many of the videos I'm dividing them into two parts. The first section will be a quick run-down of suggested techniques, and the second section will go into details of why you may want to make certain choices and to try and explore the principles behind the decisions. So I hope it helps. :)

If you are new to the game you may want to peruse the comments as I'm sure other players will add great insights into areas I missed or that could be tackled differently.

Cheers

Das

I find you very likeable in your videos.

It's just my opinion, but I think the more defined format, with an agenda and outline, will greatly reduce extemporaneous weakness.

Godspeed!

I will be sure to use my headphones when my girlfriend is around!

Rule of thumb / under the hood is a great way to organize the videos Das. Should make a lot of people happy.

Thank you for your time and effort making the videos.

One topic that would be nice is the leaders and when and how you should change them out for others.

Update:

Thank you video #7 explained it very well. Great videos!!

You do great videos. I'm watching that series now. Had to pause for a Zoom meeting, but back on track. One trick I use, because you are often very very detailed, is so speed the video up to 1.25 speed. That works well in making it a little shorter for me. But your videos are money!

Thanks for the comments. :) I'm glad the videos are helping.

I've got 19 videos at this stage that I feel cover the most crucial elements. The OP has been updated accordingly.

I tend to prefer text tutorials, but from what I've seen so far, you've done a really good job, and you sound very funny at 125% speed.
Although to be perfectly honest, I also benefited from your tutorial series about Advanced Tactics Golds in the days. So you must be the exception that sureproofs the rule.
So thanks for your hard work and godspeed.

Even if you just watch the shorter "Rule of Thumb" portion of the videos, you learn a lot.

The videos 'DasTactics' puts out are not only well done information wise, but are also child friendly per his language.
In other words, he does not 'cuss'...a pleasant surprise per many 'Youtubers'.

btw...this should be 'stickied'

I have watched all 18 of these and am now watching your beta play through....Well done...and as I wrote to the designer...stick with your vision.. the more detail you give the better...for me that's one of the joys about this game...anyway thank you...,lord I am becoming a fanboy...LOL

Thanks Das your videos were great learning.

Can you make one about fighting major AI powers as this seems like a mid-game wall when I hit it. There's nothing on youtube yet about facing this level of threat / war.

Say hi to the cat!

I have to say that I get *a lot* of errors when I try to play these videos, much more than any other video series I've tried to watch...what might cause that?
