Or unluckiest. I read about someone on the boards who wiped out his HQ and lost the turn on turn 1 with a misplaced heavy bomber run. :o I have to say I've gotten a few lucky shots now and again. I've seen my units OP-fire more than they should have been able to IMO (6-7 times as units continued to rush up/fire on it). I’ve gotten lucky shots at LONG distances with SiG I’s. And on occasion I’ve rallied back from 99 suppression with a crucial unit. This morning (prior to work, shame on me! ;)) I had another. I assaulted an American “Jumbo” tank with a half-dead recon team! They were running in to scout the FEBA (we still held victory hexes, but the units that were there were no more), and ran right up to a tank, that spotted and shot them. One was killed and the other suppressed to 40~ish. He rallied, and rallied again, and again, and again! I was going to sacrifice the last man to use up the enemy’s OP fire, so I clicked on it again so that it’d shoot it’s rifle and vacate the map thereafter. I wasn’t even paying attention to the suppression levels, just saw that he had a shot left. He assaulted (with something like a 2% chance) and BAM!!! Jumbo destroyed! That was the best value per point I’ve ever spent :D. Someone IIRC killed a Tiger with a Sniper, they may have gotten a better value/cost kill, but it’s close. In the same game my SF happened (lucky planning) to arrive next to a Jackson TD and SPAA half-track. It was a “rough” hex far in the enemy’s rear, and I assaulted the Jackson (with something like a 92% chance) it was killed. The HT attacked me and killed one, suppressing but not causing the unit to flee. It rallied, and assaulted again (with a 72% chance) and killed the HT too!! Of course, the enemy swarmed over the location and eliminated my SF squad during his turn. On that same turn, another squad appeared between a 40mm AA gun and a MG position. That didn’t go so well. I was rolling eyes on my first turn, afraid that the battle would be a bad one for me since ¼ of my heavy artillery was OP-fired and killed in before I got to act (never firing an opening barrage again). The worm has turned for the moment… On that note, if you are in the SF situation described above (appearing between two enemy units, AA gun/MG or MG/SPAA) what would you do? Sit tight? Hope you don’t get spotted? Wouldn’t the “*” give you away? Attack one knowing the other would kill you? I chose the latter. Any suggestions?
