I had a game on a rather dry but still lake dotted alien forested planet and the weird thing that I noticed was that suggested planting method was Domed while Alien plants had Good nutrition and could be grown basically anywhere on the map. Only obvious problem was water because there was very, very little rain fall but since you get 5000 water each turn if you touch a sea tile that's hardly a problem for Majors since everyone is pretty much expected to have at least one lake on this planet.

After I finished the game I noticed that the water price index on the market was highest. Higher than Hi-Tech parts. The price increase started to happen what I assume was the time of my war declaration on one of the AI majors which escalated to another AI also declaring war on me and I guess trade between 3 biggest nations ending abruptly and then everyone (except me I guess) buying water from the market. But this doesn't seem to make much sense since these Majors had plenty of lakes in their zones which should have been providing more than enough water for their Dome farms

Is the AI properly getting water out of lakes or is the 5000 water income per turn for players a bug? It does make water purification plants quite useless since it's quite hard to have a zone need more than 5000 water. Especially since multiple zones can share a lake and all of them can get the 5000 free water

Savegame sent.

Maybe sea tile water yield would be related to how many connected sea tiles there were total and how many faces does the zone control. So a single tile of sea would yield X water which get's divided to ~16,6% of total water for each face that the zone controls. A two tile sea would yield more water and 10% from each face; though 2 surrounding tiles would touch 2 faces and would be providing 20% to their controller. This way you could not create more water if you made it so that there was more zones touching the sea tile(s) instead you would be dividing the income.

I was also thinking that maybe there could be salinity level. Smaller seas would be more saline and force you to use water purification plants on dry worlds since the seas would be too saline to be used as a water source. Or maybe very small amount of water is given to simulate rudimentary evaporation plants and fresh water mixing for passable salinity.
