Never played JTS Strategic war, but that's an interesting question.

Game scale with 10km per hex appears to be close:

However, game turns are 2 days.

Are the manual and designer notes available for download somewhere?

Has the game been reviewed somewhere?

The game mechanics feel right for smaller to medium-sized scenarios like Denmark, Rostov, Leningrad, Crete...

Denmark 1940 is an a-historical scenario built to learn the system. The German player has to actually conquer Denmark using his forces - no walkover here. He is presented with a small number of units that comprise panzer and mechanized division, air and naval forces, paratroops, and transports for landing operations.

It is a nice, almost sandbox, scenario that you can play and replay until you feel you have mastered all the aspects of the game - idiosyncrasies included (just an example: you are not forced to use paratroops and air transport units to "win" in your first game: you can use them in a successive run, when you feel you have grasped the most basic aspects of the UI and the game rules).
