Probably out of scope and in the realm of fantasy, but I would love to see new biology/enemies that adhere to folklore. Imagine armies of hostile skeletal creatures and ancient birds that resemble earth's prehistoric lifeforms. I am very impressed with the arachnids and host of hostile lifeforms in the game already, so expanded beasts would add even more variety to what is already there.

It would be interesting to see the cults turn to sinister practices of summoning or creating some sort of hostile idols that could create serious problems for your settlements. I think the cults are creepy as they are,but giving them some sort of supernatural (or perceived as supernatural) abilities would definitely be a constant worry for settlers.

Skeletons? Maybe androids from the Republic era, but with all the "skin" corroded off?

Yeah, that would work as well: a cybernetic skeleton of sorts that was programmed to kill and is let out of a holding vault by marauders. I know some of these ideas might not fit the theme of the game, but they could be made to in certain ways and still retain the theme. Heck, maybe even a cult that worships a rogue AI unit.

All in all, I really like all of the random creatures in the game. It would be cool to see more in the future, but that's just my two cents. This game is great fun regardless of what is or isn't added.

So what you want is a "Wild Wild Wasteland" tickbox at the start?

Cultists worshiping ancient malevolent AI sounds fun!

Anybody remember the mind worms from Alpha Centauri? Fractions, minors or cults that are trying to live in (one or another kind of) harmony with the local biosphere could apply all sorts of different political pressures to you or spawn rogue creature tamers.

Honestly, I think spending the dev time for a sort of mini-expansion on Planet Generation would make a lot of people happy, from what i'm reading on the forums. You could have one box for "Balanced starts", which gives every major the same basic resource deposits near their start (and possibly X basic techs already discovered to research, if that's possible? Like one power tech, etc). And then one tick box for Jurassic Park style wildlife. (For the people who think the herds of animals beating machineguns is immersion breaking). And another tick box for this, which dials up the kookie pulp science-fi angle, and so on. That last one would be the hardest, since it'd actually require making new content.
