This is vital information, it shouldn't be buried in a sub-report somewhere. I look at my Urgent Notifications but there's almost always units with poor supply somewhere so that doesn't get my attention. By the time I realize a unit is actually losing men they've already lost at least one point and will lose more before I'm able to fix it. When it's an entire front because there's a bottleneck somewhere this can be disastrous.

Losing units due to lack of supply should be bold face red text notification at the start of a turn!

Usually just keeping on the Advisors gives me sufficient warnings for any problem that may creep up on me. So I never had that particular issue.

Given how easy it is for people to just outrun their supply capacity and range, a too agressive warning would be more trouble then it is worth.

Yes, I specifically differentiated between notifications for being out of supply range and notification that troops are dying. I'm only talking about a start of turn notification that troops died due to being out of supply.

Note that the coloured block in the corner of the counter. If it is BLACK it should be a warning sign for you.

It triggers for any substantial lack of supply. Even if the food is getting through, if you are short in the SHQ on munition, fuel or energy it'll colour the block black because it can't deliver any.

There's a difference between 'this unit is not fit for combat due to lack of supplies', which is inconvenient and means you need to be careful about your battles, and 'this unit is dying due to lack of food', which means you have to expend any combination of recruits, metals, rare metals, tools, high technology and industrial production to provide low quality replacements.

And given that players don't get free logistics and roads the way the AI does, it can even be impossible to shift the supply line to a detour, so by the time you notice and can do something about it to clear a blocked road it can be far, far too late.

I'd support at least getting advice in the Urgent Issues report for fatalities due to supply issues - if there isn't one already (I've not noticed one). I've not ran into big issues with this, though I'm very vigilant of troops outside full/green supply range.

IMHO it will be nice if unit background color turned into red one if this unit suffered environmental losses in that turn (or something like that to grab your attention on map). Black block pointing on major supply issues too while suffering losses is much more critical situation.

If I have units in the black and don't already know why, I'm checking on their status myself instead of waiting on a specific warning. I don't need [Your light infantry unit has 800 soldiers but only 347 packaged survival meals on hand, 47 of which have been contanimated by xenorats and 63 of which are xenorabbit stew, which soldiers would rather throw away even if starving.] On the other hand, notifications like that would add flavor to the game.

I'm old enough to remember this, the one that the unluckiest or biggest screwup would get.

Green eggs with ham

Though on the other hand this is the best individual combat ration ever made.
