Hi all,

Not sure where to post this, but I was wondering about the function of the Sa'ar 6 class. Blast33 posted some interesting info in the DB3000 thread, regarding the missile armament.

I understand the choice of the Barak 8 missiles, and their function, i.e. modern SAM with capability to intercept aircraft, missiles, sea skimmers etc. What I dont get is the inclusion of the Tamir interceptors. These are the iron dome missiles, and I dont think they are effective against maneuvering targets. Does this mean that the Sa'ar 6 class will deployed as floating anti rocket/ artillery shell batteries? It seems like a very expensive (if flexible way) of extending Iron Dome coverage?

On a side note, is the Iron Dome system modelled as a "normal" SAM system?

Any thoughts?
