I've come back to Shadow Empire after a long break, just to see where it's at.

I like what I've seen in 1.05. A lot!

I've still got misgivings about the over-complexity of the updated logistics system which I'll probably write something about soon, but other than that, I have to say, this game has come on a long way since release and finally feels like a stable and fully fleshed out game. I'm sure there are bugs and mechanics not correctly implemented but there's nothing in there now that really gets in the way of the gameplay experience. I've found I can play the game quickly (I knocked out about 60 turns yesterday in a rare break from my studies, it took me all day but it was worth every moment).

It's a magnificent game and it currently holds the title of "Ben's Favourite Video Game", and I expect it will do so for years to come unless something equally majestic, expansive, bizarre, unknowable and downright fun comes along.

For me it would be fine if the game doesnt get any new big content (like air/sea warfare, or deep spies system) as long as we get reworks for some mechanics like formations, logistics (its fine at the moment but could be better), deeper map generation settings or being able to make your own maps as you wish.

On my "wishlist", aside from air/naval stuff obviously, is that there's more exposition and detail into the Trading Houses.

I'd like the player to be able to directly communicate with them, and for trade to be "steered" or influenced in some way. There could be some nice wars and interactions between different trade houses.

Being able to target and assassinate/kidnap/influence enemy Leaders would be nice too, but all these things are gonna be difficult to balance I think.

Be careful what you wish for. If you play Vic's Advanced Tactics Gold, you might know the AI in that game doesn't handle air/naval well at all. I would be happy if he made other improvements to this while leaving air and naval out of it.

Cheers,
CB

I'd like to be able to win through commerce not just War. To become a country everyone wants favour from or even be annexed etc for a piece of the pie. Or even better say it comes down to two separate regimes cold war style waiting for the first to collapse as Russia did economically. Again in the end winning through more successful system than one big battle.

Air and naval aren't top of my list. Deeper infantry combat I'd rather have. Air and Naval would add a huge amount of complexity I feel, From research and development to actual combat use. Plus more resources would need to be raised than currently able in game to spend on Air and Naval r&d as well as all the current things we need resources for.

Yea, if we had a deeper culture/spies/religion system, we would be able to start influencing other zones and later on start rebellions or terrorist attacks and cause the goverment to fail or to ask us to annex them
